*Edit* I do not think the devil likes cherries as he somehow managed to hide this away from my “published” folder around the time of the release date, secreting the file from the reviewer in what should have been an obvious folder… Penance has now taken place so allow me to present this in its full form.

Completing the unholy trinity of recent re-releases Deicide present the aptly named ‘Bible Bashers’

First up in this collection is 2000’s “Insineratehymn” which, if I’m honest, I don’t think I have listened to in over 20 years as it’s never been one of my go to albums. And honestly I feel like I have done it a disservice as tracks such as ‘Bible Basher’ and ‘Halls Of Worship’ really give this album some grit. Now I don’t know whether it was because it followed very soon after, or that it was the last release on Roadrunner for the band, but up next is 2001’s “In Torment In Hell”, which I still have very vivid memories of being in Switzerland when I saw the albums artwork for the first time. I don’t think the locals needed to translate my sheer distain for it! Frustratingly, it’s one of my favourite albums by the band, and luckily in the set I’m not subjected the album cover too much.

The opening title track with its exchange between hellion Benton and tv evangelist Bob Larson still sets a great tone for this album and without the distraction of the artwork I can fully appreciate tracks such as ‘Child Of God’ and ‘Let It Be Done.’

I have been in the fortunate position to have all 3 sets that this label have put together, and the absolute jewel in the crown for me, especially in this set, is the inclusion of 1998’s live album “When Satan Lives”. It is a phenomenal live album and I am so happy that I now have a physical copy of it, I mean not in a going to run off and kiss a bible kind of way, but you get the idea.

No torment in hell, just another spectacular presentation
