EMQ’s with JADED TRUTH

Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Newfoundland, Canada based Grunge/Alternative Rock band, Jaded Truth. Huge thanks to guitarist/vocalist, Kyle Woodland, for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

Hi, my name is Kyle and I’m the guitarist/vocalist of Jaded Truth. We’re an alternative band that started about 2 years ago.

How did you come up with your band name?

In our former bands we had trouble with people not showing up for jams or shows so we became very jaded about having bands. So, we are Jaded Truth.

What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?

We are from Newfoundland, Canada. We have a large variety of music here but the metal/rock/punk scene has always been full of great bands. We’re glad to add to the mix.

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)

Our latest release is our second album “Tsukimono”.

‘Spirit’ (Official Video)

‘Price Of Mind’ (Lyric Video)

Who have been your greatest influences?

Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Primus, Tom Waits, Pantera, Eminem.

What first got you into music?

I’d have to say bands like R.E.M., Metallica, Nirvana, and Seether really got me into music.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician, who would it be?

Jerry Cantrell, Tom Waits, Les Claypool, or someone in hip hop music like Joyner Lucas.

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

Reading Festival. It’s always been a dream of mine since seeing videos of Nirvana playing there.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

We haven’t really received anything weird from fans yet…haha!

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

Thanks for supporting us and we hope you continue to enjoy the music.

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Layne Staley. He is probably my biggest influence and I’d love to have a drink with him. Such a wonderful soul.

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

I love playing live the most. I probably hate recording the most.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

I think there needs to be more help out there for small bands to grow. There’s a lot of great music out there that withers away because it cannot find the audience in needs.

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

Mad Season – “Above”

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

Personally, I grew up with CD’s so that’s what I have most but I do collect all those formats.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

Probably the last show we did where some people who were not feeling the music were converted by the end or the show we did at an outdoor skate park here.

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

Playing video games.

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

I probably wouldn’t because im not very social haha

What’s next for the band?

Hopefully, a couple more music videos and get out to do a tour across Canada.

What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
