EMQs With Fire the Humans
EMQs With Fire the Humans
Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with USA solo Rock project, Fire The Humans. Huge thanks to them for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Fire the Humans is the evocative solo musical project of a singer-songwriter whose work has captured listeners around the globe with its raw emotional depth and distinctive sonic identity. Since launching Fire the Humans in 2020, the artist has carved out a space where raspy, soulful vocals — often interwoven with expressive falsetto colors — meet heartfelt storytelling. With lyrics that explore the complex landscapes of love, hurt, and frustration.
How did you come up with your band name?
Fire the Humans is a ‘tongue ‘n’ cheek’ reference to how poorly we’re managing our planet and what we’ve become.
What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?
Just outside St. Louis Missouri in the United States. Not only a Rock scene, but Blues and Hip Hop as well.
What is your latest release?
‘Burned Alive’ is the latest release to drop globally on 2/13/26. It’s a different feel than past releases as it feels more intimate
Who have been your greatest influences?
Prince, The Neighborhood, Rival Sons and any artist that removes boundaries and is authentic. I’m inspired by artists that don’t chase money and fame.
What first got you into music?
Watching my parents play music as a kid really was the catalyst. I’d sit and watch them play music with friends and it just moved me.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
Jay Buchanan from Rival Sons would be an honor. Truly one of the most underrated vocalists alive.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
All of them. Nothing in particular. Festivals are fun and you get to be a fan too. Love watching all the other artists perform.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
Too much attention.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Be authentic and don’t short change your own God given gifts. Do not follow the leader, the world needs your perfect self too.
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Prince.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
Being a singer/songwriter is both equally rewarding and free and yet prison-like. Creation is feeling like no other, but when others don’t see the beauty in your art, it can sometimes feel challenging.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
Remove social media. There’s no mystery anymore, no imagination. It’s sad.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
The Neighborhood ‘Wiped Out!’
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Vinyl, no question about it.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
A sold out show in a small venue in St Louis called Blueberry Hill was pure electric.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Something that creates… painter, poet etc.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
My wife and kids and you….
What’s next for the band?
Releasing ‘Burned Alive’ on 2/13/26. It’s the new single that is quite different from the others. A very intimate, sexy and sultry song.
What Social Media / Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
Only YouTube and platforms like Spotify, Apple Music etc. I steer away from social media as I prefer more privacy.
Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll or a Tea Cake?
Muffin.
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add? Please follow along by subscribing to the Fire the Humans YouTube page and following on Spotify!
Thanks for having me and supporting this… means a lot!
