A fierce tale of defiance and destiny, VANSIND’s new single and official video channels the legendary figure of Alvild, a princess turned warrior who rejects fate and carves her own path through blood and steel. Blending haunting folk melodies with surging riffs and cinematic intensity, the track captures the emotional weight of rebellion, loss and vengeance, as its protagonist rises from concealment to command her own fate. Both epic and deeply personal, this is Vansind at their most evocative and battle-hardened – where myth and raw human struggle collide.

Vansind return with their highly anticipated sophomore album “Hævnen”, set for release on May 1st, 2026 via Mighty Music. Following the thunderous reception of their debut album “Mørket” (2023), the Danish folk metal warriors sharpen their blades and raise the stakes with a more refined, powerful and emotionally charged release that dives deep into themes of revenge, betrayal, freedom and sacrifice.
“With “Hævnen”, we wanted to explore the darker consequences of choice, loyalty and loss. It’s an album about standing your ground, even when the cost is high” the band says.
With this new record, Vansind build upon the foundation laid by “Mørket”, expanding their sonic battlefield where brutal metal riffs collide with ancient folk melodies. Thunderous growls and soaring clean vocals are carried by the haunting sounds of bagpipes and tin whistles, creating an atmosphere that feels both primal and cinematic – music forged for warriors, rebels and the wild at heart.
Lyrically, Vansind continue their descent into the dark corners of Nordic mythology and Scandinavian history, resurrecting ancient legends and forgotten tales with a modern ferocity. Rather than merely echoing the past, the band reclaims it, forging a powerful emotional bridge between ancestral struggle and the modern human condition.
A formidable live force, Vansind have already proven their strength on major European stages, including CopenHell (DK), Cernunnos Pagan Fest (FR), Ragnarök Festival (DE), Malpaga Folk & Metal Fest (IT) and Warhorns Vikings II (UK). Their live reputation underscores the raw intensity and authenticity that defines “Hævnen”.
Formed in Slagelse, Denmark, in the summer of 2019, Vansind bring together members with vastly different musical backgrounds, united by a shared vision and a determination to leave their mark on the Danish folk metal scene. Rooted deeply in Nordic soil, the band stand as a rising force where tradition and aggression meet. When the battle torches are lit and steel meets steel, Vansind stand in the fray – and for those who listen closely, the gates of Valhalla may not be far behind.
