Nevermind legendary skilled archers and swordsmen, Nottingham’s Kryptess unleash their own deadly strikes with debut EP “One Girl, One Thousand Lacerations”.
Immediately the blackened death metal tones on ‘Devoted Desecration’ are abundant, so too is the noticeably feral yet articulate delivery of Elloise’s vocals which immediately makes me want the band to cover Bulletbelt’s ‘Deathgasm’ – I think they would absolutely nail it.
The absolute gem for me on this debut is ‘Hell Infected’ which the trio deliver effortlessly. The musicianship compliments each bass line, each guitar line, and with thunderous drums that are the maniacal heartbeat. And, well, that chorus is going to make for one hell (yes pun intended) of a live favourite.
As the EP moves into ‘Mourning Dawn’ you really have to admire just how bludgeoning this debut is. Again, this is a massively strong track, easily making this a real highlight section. The tempo shifts and screams also add to this.
Last and heaviest track is the EP’s namesake ‘One Girl, One Thousand Lacerations’ which I really should’ve been prepared for given the previous tracks, but still the sheer intensity still had me reeling.
