Wet Cactus are an Alternative Rock band with hints of Psychedelia from Spain. Upon listening to their latest release, it is clear that the foundations of this band lay in the Desert and Stoner Rock vibes of California. ‘Magma Tres’ is the band’s third album to date, a concept album themed around the depletion and the end of Earth as a life sustaining planet due to Humans inaction and willingness to reverse their actions, considering the bleak theme the songs are pretty upbeat and up-tempo.

That said, these songs are solid Stoner Rock tracks, tracks like ‘Barren Landscape’ and ‘Profound dream’ are catchy and have some fantastic guitar work throughout. ‘Mirage’ is the first track to bring the dark mood that you would associate with your planet dying, a rhythmic instrumental dirge as psychedelic guitars play some lovely blues licks and the bass plays along with some excellent runs of its own, the drums are what hold all this together, staying solid and never faltering. ‘My Gaze Is Fixed Ahead’, is a powerful guitar-driven Stoner Rock anthem of a track, easy to tell why this is the lead single from the album, other songs on the album, such as ‘Million Tears’ and ‘Self Bitten Snake’ continue to showcase what ‘Wet Cactus’ Really have to offer, underneath all the psychedelic guitars there is a good old fashioned Rock n Roll band, vocally each song has strong hooks for you to sink your teeth into. ‘Hell Dweller’ and ‘Solar Prominence’ close the album out, as strong as any other song on the album, ‘Wet Cactus’ continue to showcase their musicianship and songwriting capability throughout the album. For me, the guitars are what really bring this album together, working well in conjunction with the vocals to create a solid Stoner Rock album.

Now on the below track listing there are some tracks I have not mentioned, 1, 6, 9 , will not be on the Vinyl release of this album, neither will track 12, these are short instrumental pieces to help build the atmosphere of the album, apart from track 12 which is a 2 and a half minute fast paced album ender.

Though it may seem as if I have said some negative things about this album, I actually think it is a great release and I hope I can catch them on tour in the UK at some point.
