It’s getting close to that time of year again, when I drag my aching old carcass to a festival! But not just any festival, as Beermageddon is more like a family reunion, where I know I get to spend 4 days with my most favourite bunch of misfits on the planet. And that makes it absolutely worth it. Plus, after last years caravan drama, we now have a new van, which I’m super excited to take on its maiden voyage! A baptism of fire if you will.
So, what does this year’s festival have in store for us? Well, as usual things will kick off with the Thursday evening disco, with the addition this year of ‘Taskmaster’. I love the TV show, so whatever this turns out to be, it’s going to be interesting! And there will be the usual Fancy Dress competition on the Friday night, this year with the theme ‘Twisted Fairy Tales’.
As far as the music goes, that starts on Friday, and there’s a good mix of the heavier side of metal, including bands new to the festival, and those returning for another appearance. Some of them I’ve heard, or seen, some I haven’t, so let’s go through a rundown of what you can expect.
Friday:
Friday is all about starting the party with a bang. And there really isn’t anyone better at doing that than openers, Healer of Bastards. These Rock ‘n’ Roll Hardcore Thrash Skater Punks have graced the stage at Stoke prior before, and their show at last year’s festival was awesome, so I’m very excited to see them back again.

Saur are up next, and I don’t think I can actually count how many times I’ve seen these guys. They merge Punk with observational comedy, creating a sing-a-long experience that’s not to be missed. Their frontman, Adam Robinson, who I’ve many times dubbed ‘The Redcoat of Metal’ has also just become our newest reviewer here at Ever Metal. So, I’m now going to be like a proud Metal mum, too.

Nottingham Death Metallers Kryptess were supposed to play at last year’s Beermageddon, but sadly had to pull out. They’re back to make their debut this year though, as main support on the Friday evening. Death Metal isn’t always my bag, but their Facebook page says they have a touch of Thrash, Black, and Melodic Metal too, so I’m looking forward to checking them out!

If you ask anyone which performance was their favourite from last year’s Festival, a large majority of them would say the absolute powerhouse, Scottish Progressive Metallers Ramage Inc. They were certainly my performance of last year, as in the complete year, not just Beermageddon. And they made my 11-year-old son, and Ramage mini-fan very happy. He’s stoked to be seeing them in a headline spot this year, and so am I.

Saturday:
Old-school Thrashers Seven Year War are a new name to me, but as always, I’m looking forward to discovering new music. I like to go into these things blind, so I’ve not listened to any of their recorded material yet. I’ll leave that for their performance, opening this year’s Saturday offering.

Born Zero are another new name to me, and a new artist to the festival. They’re a Groove/ Hardcore band from the home of Heavy Metal – Birmingham! That is enough to tell me I’m probably going to really dig their music.

Any Road seem to be a mysterious entity, with not much of an online presence… But I did manage to find their YouTube channel. This meant I had to break my rule of not listening to the bands I didn’t know until they were on stage in front of me, so I could work out their genre! They’re from the Isle of White, and from the sounds of it, they’re Heavy Progressive Rock. Correct me if I’m wrong guys. I’m liking what I’m hearing though – so I’m looking forward to their set.

If you haven’t seen Incinery then have you even been to a live gig? They’re Thrashers from Nottingham, and they always put on a great show. They’ve played Beermageddon before, too. But I think it was in our local Pentre Fest where I saw them last, and I can’t wait to see them again here.

One of the final bands to be announced for this year’s festival, Chaplain are Groove Metallers from the West Midlands. Again, this isn’t a band I’ve heard before, but I was able to discover what they did without listening to their music! Groove Metal is my thing, so I don’t have any doubt that I will enjoy them!

Dog Tired are the Saturday main support. And I BLOODY LOVE these guys! The first time I saw them was in Rabid Fest waaaaaay back in 2019. Another Groove Metal band, but this time from further afield in Scotland, they’re heavy, loud, and tight as a nun’s chuff! Can’t wait to see them again.

Closing out Saturday’s mayhem are Hidden Intent, and if you thought Dog Tired and Ramage Inc had had a bit of a hike to get to the festival from Scotland, then think again! Because these Thrashers are all the way from Australia! So, what’s Thrash like Down Under? Well, I’ll have to wait and see!

Sunday:
The Sunday of Beermageddon traditionally kicks off with the group photo, to add to the Beermageddon Family Album. We missed last year’s photo because we were being lazy. It’s not a mistake I’ll be repeating this year though!
Higher State are opening the final day of music. They’re another Groove-laden band from Birmingham, so they’ll certainly blow away the Sunday morning hangovers in the same way a punch in the privates does!

Gormented are a Death Metal band from Wales, and the side hustle of some of the members of Sodomized Cadaver. I’m not the biggest Death Metal fan, but I’ll give them a go here, and report back. Maybe they’ll be the ones to turn me to the dark side…

Black Country Melodic Death Metallers Kensei Are another new name to me, and it’s their first time at Beermageddon. According to the tinterweb, they’re infused with Old-School Metalcore too, which is more up my street. And the ‘Melodic’ part of their genre title also means I’m more likely to enjoy them.

Ofnus were another of the bands who put on an amazing show last year, and I’m very happy to see these Welsh Atmospheric Black Metallers back again for 2025. They have an epic range in T-shirt designs too, so make sure you head to their merch stand to grab one!

Melodic Death Thrashers, Hybridize, were also originally supposed to be playing this year, but they had to pull out. They’ve been replaced by Leicester Tech Death Metallers, Voidwalker, to add to the very heavy Sunday line-up. I don’t think these guys have played here before, so it will be interesting to see what they have to offer.

At the business end of the festival, it’s time to go out and out party again! And this year’s main support slot goes to Beermageddon favourites, Face Up! Again, they are a band who thrive on fun, delivering a Hardcore Punk assault on you whether you want them to or not. I’ve seen them a few times now, and they never disappoint, making them one of the bands I’m most looking forward to this year!

When I was showing a friend this year’s line-up they saw the headline act and excitedly exclaimed ‘FUCK ME!!! GBH?!!! I’m going to go just for them!’ This is a band who have been kicking it for as long as I’ve been alive (which is getting terrifyingly closer to 50 years as each day passes). They’re pioneers of the UK82, second wave of British punk and are going to be an absolutely immense way to close this year’s festival! Hang on to your hats folks, cos things could get messy!

So, that’s it. A word of warning – this festival sells out EVERY YEAR, so if this line-up tickles your fancy, get one NOW before it’s too late! At only £55 a pop, you’d be mad not to. See you there!
