What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Regarding its origins, the band IN MEMORIAM, later called REMEMBRANCES (now RAINOVER), is born in Murcia, in October 2003, when Antonio López (guitars), Haydée Mariñoso (vocals) gather to create a gothic metal band.
Arturo Hernandez (keyboards) contacts Haydée and Antonio and decides to join and form the band with them, working on the songs, music and melodies that these 3 members are composing. Later, Fran, the new drummer, joins the band for a short time.
In 2004, after Fran leaves the band, José Daniel joins the band as a new drummer. The band, called IN MEMORIAM, open a basic website and records a never released demo of 5 songs (“Crystal Tears”, “Scars of my soul”, “Anguish”, “Wish”, and “See the Grief”) at the FOCUS recording studios (San José de la Vega, Murcia), from Jesús Segado.
Later, in 2005 the band gets a stable line up after the joining of Joaquín Martínez (bass guitars) and Quini Pelegrín (drummer), being already able to prepare more songs for the first LP, CRYSTAL TEARS.
The band has 3 works more: Transcending the blue and drifting into rebirth, Nox, and the last one: Between dream and nightmare.
The members of the actual newline-up are: Carlos Pulido (bass player),Arturo Hernández (keyboard player),Tatiana Martínez (singer) Rubén Asunción(drums) and Sergio Pérez (guitarist).
How did you come up with your band name?
We have a song called ‘Rain over my tears’, and the keyboardist made up the word Rainover.
What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?
We are from Spain, from the city of Murcia. It’s not bad, there are festivals like Rock Imperium and Leyendas del Rock where big bands come. In our city, Murcia, there isn’t much metal because indie rock is more popular.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
The new album, “Between Dream and Nightmare,” composed and produced entirely by Arturo Hernández, was released on July 15, 2025. It features 10 songs based on 10 stories, referencing paperback books of tales based on fantasy, suspense, and gothic horror written by the most talented writers in the genre.
All the songs are intertwined by the idea of a dream that turns into a nightmare and then returns to its previous state after a learning experience. It is a lesson for each of its protagonists.
Full of touches on emotions, fears, traumas, and, ultimately, all those psychological aspects that human beings go through at some point in their lives, this work is the most complex and intimate, one that any listener can make their own.
Who have been your greatest influences?
Nightwish, HIM, Within Temptation, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil, Paradise Lost, Therion, Theatre of Tragedy…. In general, gothic metal bands although we listen to other styles such as Rock, Pop…
What first got you into music?
Well, in my case (Arturo Hernández) film soundtracks. I used to play them by ear as a child.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
With Nightwish, because they have been our biggest influence and we are very grateful to them.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
It would be nice to play at Wacken Open Air because there is a huge audience and more people would know us.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
Well, none, because we haven’t received anything.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
We will never let you down.
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Kurt Cobain
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
We really enjoy writing music. We think the lyrics are the most complicated thing, but not so much that we hate them.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
That people instead of selling their CD’s, what they do is upload them to digital platforms and they don’t make any money. We would like to go back to the time when there was no digital music.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Once , by Nightwish.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs or Downloads?
The CDs.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
The Dammes of Darkness in Birmingham, UK. It was a great festival with big name bands like Sirenia.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
To learn music
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
To any of the apostles except Judas.
What’s next for the band?
We are going on tour in Spain.
