EMQ’s With Imperishable

Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with USA Black/ Death Metal band, Imperishable. Huge thanks to their Guitarist/ Vocalist, Brian Kingsland, for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

Brian Kingsland. I play guitar and vocals. This project was conceived during the pandemic of 2020. Alex and I went back and forth with ideas until the songs were born. After a few drummers failed, I decided to contact Derek Roddy, and the rest is history.

How did you come up with your band name?

Actually the band name was derived from a Nile song I wrote the music to. “ THE IMPERISHABLE STARS ARE SICKENED”

What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?

We’re all from different areas of the southern USA. I can’t speak for the others, but here in SC, I’ve become a bit out of touch with the scene. There’s plenty of metal, but much of it isn’t exactly my cup of tea.

What is your latest release?

Our new record is called “Revelation In Purity”.

We have 3 singles out currently.

‘Oath of Disgust’

‘Revelation In Purity’

‘Spewing Retribution’

Who have been your greatest influences?

Too many to be thorough. But for this particular project, Angelcorpse, Emperor, Morbid Angel, Pantera, Zyklon, Obituary

What first got you into music?

My father is a bass player and singer. I grew up with the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath etc…

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

Chris Hathcock of the Reticent

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

I’ve played some large festivals in Europe with Nile. They’re all amazing. Brutal Assault was my favorite. I would choose that again, any day.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

Cremated ashes of their friend

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

I’m sincerely grateful for anyone who listens to my music. Thank you.

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Dimebag Darrell

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

I love the creative aspects of music. Writing, arranging, collaborating etc…

I loathe the social media content creator expectations that have become an industry standard. It’s degrading to the craft

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

The content creator bullshit

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

“Jar of Flies” – Alice In Chains

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs or Downloads?

CD. By far the best quality

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

I would say Brutal Assault in Czech Republic

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

Feeding the worms

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

Danny Glover, the Prince of Wales, Tony Soprano, Neil Degrass Tyson, Joshua Hightower

What’s next for the band?

We’re writing more music for a new record

What Social Media / Website links do you use to get your music out to people?

Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK, either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll or a Tea Cake

Bap
