EMQs With Lumen Syndicate
EMQs With Lumen Syndicate
Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs, this time with Brazilian Hard Rock band, Lumen Syndicate. Huge thanks to their vocalist and guitarist, Eric Vinhal, for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Nice to meet you, my name is Eric Vinhal, I’m a guitarist/vocalist and the creator of the band. This project was born from an old desire to form a Hard Rock band, and finally got off the ground in 2025, when I approached 3 old musical partners (Regner Pessoa, Keilo Fernandes and Edmilton Sammyr), with whom I had already played in different projects in the past.
Now it would be a sound that we hadn’t done before, and I was lucky that everyone was up for it with me. Thus, the Lumen Syndicate was born.
How did you come up with your band name?
Finding the name for the band was the hardest part, everything we thought was already in use by another band. We got to the point where we were already working on the fourth song, and still without a name for the band.
The idea for Syndicate came from a game my son was playing. At the time I saw it, I thought it was very interesting, it was now enough to know what this Syndicate would be about.
Another idea we were working on was something related to “light”. Then we found Lumen and connected it to Syndicate.
What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?
We are from Brazil, from the satellite city of Gama – DF.
Gama has always been a city of artistic reference, with the active presence of many bands and a lot of theatre.
However, currently the city’s Rock scene seems to be in a moment of transition. There aren’t many bands rocking. We hope to inspire other people from Gama to return with their bands. A new wave must happen.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
On 29/05/2026 we will release our first single, ‘No Place for the Brokenhearted’, on all digital platforms.
Who have been your greatest influences?
It has everything, from Thrash to Glam Metal. Currently I would say that Survivor, Danger Danger and Def Leppard have had many hours of play on my Spotify.
What first got you into music?
Looking back, I see that naturally I was drawn to music from a very early age. Rock came when I was 11 years old, but even before that I had the desire to belong to something musical.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
I’d love to be one of Ghost’s Nameless Ghouls!
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
It would definitely be Wacken! Legendary. Who knows…
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
For now we are still waiting for this gift. We hope it happens! Haha.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
I hope our music finds a place in your heart! Thank you for being with us!
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Jimi Jamison of Survivor. There is no other singer in the world like him.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
What I like the most is being able to express myself artistically through compositions and being able to sound it through an incredible band! The feeling of being able to connect through my music with another person is something unique.
Now what I hate the most about having a band is having to put up with drama. Bands are fertile solos for drama Hahaha.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
Without a doubt, it would be to resume the physical media market, as we had in the past. For me, the musical experience already began when we took the CD from the shelf to the cashier.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
I’ll mention an album that changed my life forever in terms of guitar. Time Odyssey – Vinnie Moore.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs or Downloads?
My choice may be controversial, but I stick with the CDs.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
Hmmm, good question. I think the best show I did was at the Marreco’s Fest Selective in 2011, at the time I played in a Thrash band.
He was incendiary. We got one of the vacancies!
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
I believe I would have tried something in the direction of football. It has always been a passion.
Nowadays my knees don’t help much, but I still like to play with it from time to time.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Trevor Rabin, Joe Elliot, Frankie Sullivan, Steve Lukather and my father. What an unforgettable dinner!
What’s next for the band?
We will be releasing our second single, ‘Driver’, at the end of July 2026, again on all digital platforms. And of course, many presentations throughout the year.

There’s a long-standing food-based debate here in the UK. And we’d like your help. So… A Jaffa cake – is it a cake or a biscuit? Discuss!
My sixth sense says that it is a cookie!
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Just thank you for the opportunity. Count on us!
