EMQ’s with PRIME CREATION
Hi Everyone. Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Swedish Metal band Prime Creation Huge thanks to them for taking part!
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Sure, my name is Henrik Weimedal and I play bass guitar.
Prime Creation started in 2015 by members from the now disused power metal band Morifade. We released our self-titled debut album in 2017, a lot of gigs later we released the first of 3 singles in April 2019 and this fall we’ll release our second album called “Tears of Rage”.
How did you come up with your band name?
We had about 100-150 names that we came up with and the word “creation” came up the most and then we just put “prime” in front of that. 🙂
What country are you from and what is the metal scene like there?
We’re from Sweden and I think most people know that the metal scene here is fantastic; the music scene in general is very strong in Sweden.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single or Video)
‘Lost In The Shades’ single. It’s the first of three from the coming album.
Who have been your greatest influences?
There’s so many, everything from Black Sabbath to Symphony X
What first got you into music?
For me personally it was Steve Harris and Iron Maiden, first Iron Maiden song I ever heard was ‘The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner’, after that I was hooked!
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
Iron Maiden! But on a more realistic level I think Masterplan would be a good pick, we supported them at a couple of shows and we really enjoyed hanging out with them.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Wacken Open Air, simply because it’s the biggest metal festival on earth!
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
We received a letter once from a fan, he had created the postal stamp from our album cover and had made it so it looked like a real stamp, and it sure fooled the postal service.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Spread the word!
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Ronnie James Dio, amazing voice…
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I love playing live.
I hate the time between arriving at the venue and standing on the stage.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
I don’t know.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Iron Maiden – “Powerslave”
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Vinyl!
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
With Morifade at Rock Machina in Spain in the year 2000.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Probably weld
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
John Cleese
Terry Gilliam
Eric Idle
Terry Jones
Michael Palin
(and Graham Chapman if he was still alive)
What’s next for the band?
We’re planning gigs for the fall and of course releasing the album!
