EMQ’s with REATZIONE
EMQ’s with REATZIONE
Hi Everyone. Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Sardinian Groove-Core Metal band Reatzione! Huge thanks to vocalist Mex for taking part!
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Hi, I’m Mex and I am the lead vocalist of the band.
Reatzione as a band was born in 2012 in Sassari, Sardinia. Our music is based around influences that go from progressive to grind (laugh). The current line-up is the following: Mex – Voice, A-lex – Guitar, Bobbore – Bass & Mauro – Drums.
How did you come up with your band name?
It’s the Sardinian translation for the English word ‘Reaction’. There’s no particular reasons for the choice, it’s just sounded right.
What country are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
We are Sardinian (Italy), the scene has gone through a lot of ups and down and currently we are witnessing a timid rise of interest towards the genre, after a period of general lack of interest.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single or Video)
Our latest (first official) release is “Sopravvissuti” a studio album published by Dark Hammer Legion/Volcano Record, on 30th May 2019 anticipated by two singles “Inferru” and the title track “Sopravvissuti”.
Who have been your greatest influences?
I have fairly wide tastes, Seventies Rock, NWOBHM, Thrash Metal and Death Metal.
What first got you into music?
I wanted to emulate artists I used to listen to when I was a teenager, and to express myself.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
I believe it would be Venom I have worn out their albums, otherwise Zakk Wylde because of his versatility.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
I have always been fascinated by Wacken and Hellfest, great bands and great audiences.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
It was not a gift, several years ago backstage I have been stopped by a fan while I was with my girlfriend of the time, she (the fan) asked me to take a picture together and at the same time she made me sexual offers, a very critical moment (laugh)
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Widen your own musical listening and have fun with it. Music is a companion for life.
If you could bring one Metal/Rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Only one? Too difficult, but if I had to choose one among the others it would be Lemmy, an absolute legend.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I love to spend time with the others members of the band, especially during the pre and the after shows, like a lot of my fellows musicians I hate when I have to pack everything up after a gig.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
I think there is a little bit too much technology involved in the industry, I believe heavy music is more enjoyable when it is produced and played with more traditional means.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
I think “Piece Of Mind” by Iron Maiden, straight for my childhood.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Vinyl all the way, its sounds hot, the best result in term of sound.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
I’m afraid I’m not able to choose which one is the best so far, as we always say the best will be the next one.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
I don’t know, maybe I would be a brewer.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Phil Anselmo, Trevor Peres, Chris Barnes, Glen Benton, Tatiana Shamailyuk and Cristina Scabbia
What’s next for the band?
We hope to be able to record an EP with the new stuff by the end of 2019

Jaffa Cakes? Are they a cake or a biscuit?
I don’t know what you’re talking about, it’s not easy available in Italy, if I have to guess would bet all my money on biscuit (laugh).
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Thanks to you, check out our social media and give us a listen… Cheers and Beers!!
