EMQ’s with LEXI LAYNE
Hi Everyone. Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Los Angeles based Singer and Performer Lexi Layne! Huge thanks to Lexi for taking part!
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
My name is Lexi Layne, I am a singer and I’ve been singing since I was 5. The “Lexi Layne” project finally started this year.
How did you come up with your band name?
I felt it would be most appropriate to use my name.
What country are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
I live in the United States in Los Angeles, California. The metal scene I feel is a little dead here. I think it’s much better in Europe but the community is still tight and rocking!
What is your latest release (Album, EP, Single, Video)
My latest release is my new single ‘The Darkness Of Your Heart’ streaming on all musical platforms now. My music video for it is also out now on YouTube.

Who have been your greatest influences?
I’ve been very fortunate to listen to some amazing bands. They are definitely my influences.
What first got you into music?
I started musical theatre at a young age, I always found such a love for being on the stage. That eventually lead to me writing my own music and working on my first EP at the age of 16.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
This is such a hard question. I would love to collaborate with the band PVRIS and Jonny Craig. Both insanely talented!
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Warped Tour was always my dream since I was a little girl. I honestly love all the rock festivals, it would be an honour to be on any of them.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
A pair of head phones ha very random.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Be yourself and fuck what society thinks!
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Elvis Presley
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I love everything from being in the studio to performing live. I don’t hate one single thing. It’s my passion!
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
I wish it wasn’t so forced. Back then Music was raw, and real. I’m definitely trying to bring that vibe back.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
PVRIS – “White Noise”
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Well downloads are the present and future but vinyl’s are classic.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
With the single just coming the band and I haven’t booked much yet. When the EP is out in 2020 we hope for great shows!
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
I would definitely still be in the industry performing, I can’t see myself doing anything else.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
The lead singers from In This Moment, PVRIS, KORN, Rob Zombie & Halestorm!
What’s next for the band?
The Main thing is finishing the EP coming out in 2020.
