Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Lancaster, UK based Metal band, Promethium. Huge thanks to guitarist, Daniel Lovett-Horn for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

Daniel Lovett-Horn – Guitar.

The band was created just to be a studio project and after the first release it grew from there. The band enjoyed what had been recorded and everyone wanted to take the music out and play it live. 10 years and various members later, we are the tightest Promethium has ever been and it’s a proper Brotherhood between us all.

How did you come up with your band name?

We were trying to look at names of elements and originally were going to go with Polonium 210, as it had just been in the news with a Russian spy who had died. But then the name Promethium came to the table and, boom the rest is history.

What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?

We are from Lancaster in the Northwest of the UK.  The Northwest is a really up and coming area now, especially Manchester, which has a booming scene.

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)

Our 4th CD “Revisions” which is an acoustic album of songs from our first 3 albums.

Who have been your greatest influences?

Deffo Jeff Waters from Annihilator, and guitarist Chris Green, from Furyon.

What first got you into music?

Chesney Hawkes on Top of the Pops singing “One and Only”!

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician, who would it be?

I would be really keen to see what a writing session with Jon Schaffer out of Iced Earth would be like.

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

Wacken! The vibe the crowds seem to give off, from all the Live DVD’s I have watched, just looks fantastic.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

A chocolate bunny!

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

“St Anger” is a good album!

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Chesney Hawkes!!

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

I love playing live and creating new music in the studio for others to hear. However, loading and unloading the van is by far the worst thing.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

That music is not given away for free!

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

Annihilator – “Never Neverland”.

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

CD’s, as nothing beats listening to a cd and reading the booklet.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

HRH Metal

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

Running the Chesney Hawkes Fanclub!!!

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

Would need to check with the wife, as I’m banned from attending dinner parties at my house now after the last cheese and wine night!

What’s next for the band?

Getting into the studio and creating Album 5, which is gonna blow people’s minds!

What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?

Jaffa Cakes? Are they a cake or a biscuit?

Chesney Hawkes says biscuit!

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Don’t do drugs! And remember a Goat is for life not just for Christmas.
