EMQ’s with ENDUST
Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with São Paulo, Brazil based Thrash/Progressive Metal band Endust. Huge thanks to guitarist Glauco Rezende for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
I’m Glauco Rezende, and I play guitar on ENDUST, a thrash/progressive metal band from Brazil. I started the project in 2009, with the drummer Fernando Arouche. In 2019, we released our first album called “All Ends In Dust”.
How did you come up with your band name?
I took a long time to find this name. At first, Endust was just a meaningless word that came to my mind. After, I tried to find some meaning to this name, so I take the two words that make it, “End” and “Dust”, which gives the idea of the end of something, an old temple or a ruined city, the death… I thought it was cool and took this idea to the song “All Ends in Dust”, which is the title track of our first album.
What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
I am from Jundiaí, state of São Paulo, Brazil. Here, everything is stopped due to the pandemic, but before it, the metal scene was not going well. I think most people here prefer to see only the famous traditional bands or covers rather than the local original bands, but there are still people and clubs that keep the scene alive.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
We released our first album in 2019, called “All Ends In Dust” and we are going to release a new EP very soon.
‘Someone To Blame’
Who have been your greatest influences?
In terms of guitar technique, I can talk about a lot of guitarists, but what most grabs my attention are the guitarists who, besides playing riffs and solos, are great composers in their bands, so my greatest influences are Michael Romeo (Symphony X), Mark Tremonti (Tremonti, Alter Bridge, Creed) and Dimebag Darrell (Pantera, Damageplan).
What first got you into music?
I think it was Metallica and Angra.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
With Mark Tremonti’s band “TREMONTI”.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Summer Breeze, in Germany. I watched many live shows from this festival on the internet. It’s in a beautiful place and has a very “metal” atmosphere for me.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
I think I’ve never received any gift from a fan ☹ hahaha.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Thanks for all the support and messages about our album and stay tuned because it’s just the beginning!
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Dimebag Darrel.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
What I like most about it is being able to have fun in a different way than most people, rehearsing, composing and playing. What I hate, is the difficulty of having it as a profession, everything is very unstable.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
Maybe I wouldn’t change in the industry, but in the people that consumes music. I want the public to be more open to meeting new music, go to shows and support the local bands.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
“Paradise Lost” from Symphony X.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
I prefer the CD’s, but I have to say that I met many bands due to the downloads.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
I have no idea. Maybe I’d be having a more normal life hahaha.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Chuck Billy , Mattias Eklundh (Freak Kitchen), Russell Allen and Michael Romeo (Symphony X), Andreas Kisser.
What’s next for the band?
Now, we are about to release our new EP. After it, we will start to search for a new singer to record the new full album.
What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
www.instagram.com/endust_band/
www.facebook.com/official.endust

Jaffa Cakes? Are they a cake or a biscuit?
I didn’t know what that is. I googled it and realized that it is a discussion similar to the “biscoito or bolacha” that happens here. I think that Jaffa Cakes are cakes, judging by the content, not by the form.
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
I would like to thank everybody from Ever Metal, and all the people that listen and follow Endust.
