Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with Greek Epic Rock solo project, Forbidden Myth. Huge thanks to main man, Antonis, for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

Hello and thanks for the invitation.

I’m Antonis, keyboardist and songwriter of Forbidden Myth. Three years ago, I decided to write an epic rock concept album. So, this is not a full band, for now, but a project of mine…

How did you come up with your band name?

I searched for a name to describe a band that writes material based on epic stories. I believe that “Forbidden Myth” is the perfect name to describe all that I had in my mind…

What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?

We have a very strong Rock/Metal scene here in Hellas, I suggest every fan check it out!

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)

We just released our first concept album, named “Zantea Chronicles: The Dream Dominator” on October 17th 2021 on Bandcamp. Also, we recently uploaded the lyric movie of the album on YouTube!

Who have been your greatest influences?

I like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, WASP, Queensryche, Rainbow, Toto, Aphrodite’s Child and all Rock/Hard Rock/Metal genre from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Also, electro/pop from the 80’s like Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, Yazzo and Prince. I believe that our music has elements from all this stuff.

What first got you into music?

I started to learn music at quite an older age than the usual, around 20 years old. I always had words and melodies in my mind and I started playing keyboards to express myself.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician, who would it be?

I would choose Neal Morse. He is a great keyboard/guitar player and a fantastic songwriter. I could learn many things from him…

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

I would like to play at the Monsters of Rock/Download festival. The reason is that it is the most legendary Rock/Metal festival of all time!

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

I have not received any gifts from a fan, until now…

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

To support their local bands and artists, that is the reason we continue to write music!

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

I would choose Ray Manzarek from The Doors, he is one of my favourite keyboard players and a great songwriter!

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

I enjoy everything from songwriting to live shows. I hate nothing, I believe all musicians would say the same with me…

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

20 years ago, I would have changed many things, but now, anyone can release an album independently. I believe whatever had to change, has changed…

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

“Operation Mindcrime” by Queensryche. The best concept album in metal history!

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs, or Downloads?

Vinyl is the best of them all and I am happy it’s back. I like cassettes too, I like their warm analog sound quality!

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

Unfortunately, I have not played many live shows, I prefer studio work better, for now…

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

When I was a child, I wanted to be a football player, I like sports very much, it’s a way of life for me…

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

The only people I would like to invite are my family and friends…

What’s next for the band?

I hope people listen to and love our new album. In the near future we will start writing the story for the next Forbidden Myth album. Also, I hope to do some live shows.

What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?

Jaffa Cakes! Are they a cake or a biscuit?

Jaffa Cakes are biscuit-sized cakes and one my favourites§!

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

I hope all this madness we have been living the last two years ends in 2022.

I wish you and all of Ever Metal’s readers a happy new year!

Listen to music, stay happy, stay safe!
