Hi Everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with American Rock Guitarist, Gia G. Huge thanks to her for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
My Name is Gia Federico , Play in the band GIA G , band started in 2012 , studio project, released the new EP Jan 25th 2022, Cosmic Wave , and 3 singles , before this.
How did you come up with your band name?
It’s actually my name and middle name LOL!
What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
I am from the United States, and the state of MA , outside of Boston MA , depends on the area you’re in and state or part of the country you’re in.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
GIA G Cosmic Wave, released Jan 25th 2022 with 2 music videos, ‘Cosmic Wave’ and ‘Reminiscing’, through Sliptrick Records.
Who have been your greatest influences?
Eddie Van Halen, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, many bands and artists, from a variety of different styles.
What first got you into music?
I’ve always been fascinated with music and Guitar.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
Not sure to be honest any more LOL!
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Ah, I can’t say – maybe one in England or Germany, and some big ones in America.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
Ahahah! I don’t want to say!!
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Thank you for all the support over the years, I am honoured 🙂
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Hmm, tough. Elvis, Feddie Mercury, Eddie Van Halen , Dio , Randy Rhoads, a big list! LOL
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I love playing, recording and writing; what I hate, the other musicians that trash talk and the business side of it , all corrupt.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
Ha ha, too much to list, LOL! I would redo the whole business side of it, so that the artists and bands get paid fully for their music.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
“Master of Puppets” – Metallica, “The Number of the Beast” – Iron Maiden, “Holy Diver” – Dio , “Van Halen” – Van Halen and many more.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs, or Downloads?
Vinyl sounds the warmest.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
Hmm there are a few, probably one of the best was the recent set of ones, as I got great reactions.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
The other things I do now, LOL Investing, Real Estate…
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
LOL Freddie Mercury, Elvis , Eddie Van Halen , Warren Buffet , Elon Musk and Steve Jobs.
What’s next for the band?
A full album.
