Hi Everyone. Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with Greek Epic Metal project, Battle Symphony. Huge thanks to Keyboard player and project founder, Nikos Tzouannis, for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
My name is Nikos Tzouannis, I play keyboards and I created this metal project called Battle Symphony. It was an idea I had during the first quarantine fro Covid – 19 and two years later, here we are with our debut album, “War on Earth”!
How did you come up with your band name?
I wanted something powerful. Something to describe our music. So I came up with the name Battle Symphony.
What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
I am from Greece and the metal scene here is on a rise! Very talented bands, great musicians and more to come from Greece in the near future.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
Our debut album, “War On Earth”, released by Soman Records
Who have been your greatest influences?
Iron Maiden, Manowar, Royal Hunt, Dream Theater, Fates Warning.
What first got you into music?
The power and energy of metal!
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
Iron Maiden.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Rock in Rio. I wanna live in this crazy atmosphere!
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
I never received any gift from a fan.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Give a chance to Battle Symphony and we will not let you down!
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Dio.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I don’t consider myself a musician. I do it because I love it, as a hobby, so I love everything about it.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
The way big labels treat the bands.
Name one of your all-time favorite albums?
“Somewhere in Time” from Iron Maiden.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs, or Downloads?
Vinyl, without second thought.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
I’ve never played a gig.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
I am a journalist and I do what I love.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Bruce Dickinson, Steve Harris, Rob Halford, Michael Kiske and Eric Adams.
What’s next for the band?
Probably a new album. Time will tell.
