EMQ’s with Crowdead

Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs, this time with Italian Metal band, Crowded. Huge thanks to them for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

Hi everyone! We’re Crowdead, an Italian metal band from Mantua, formed in 2018. Our idea is to present an extreme genre characterised by cutting riffs, breakdowns and dark sounds.

How did you come up with your band name?

The name Crowdead was formed by mixing the words “crowd” and “dead”; in other words, a “dead crowd”, that is the destiny that awaits humanity according to our concept. As a band we started out driven by our passion for music and the desire to express what we feel inside.

What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?

We’re from the northern part of Italy, more precisely the provinces of Mantua, Cremona and Verona. The metal scene in these areas is quite difficult, especially in the underground area, where it’s difficult to be known since events are mainly organised by agencies that ask to be paid by bands if they want to play.

What is your latest release?

Our latest album came out in October and is called “tearing your soul apart”. We’re very proud of it.

Who have been your greatest influences?

Our greatest influences have been bands such as Pantera, Machine Head, Lamb of God, Trivium, Decapitated and Sepultura.

What first got you into music?

We’ve always been very passionate about metal and it has been our purpose in life from the very beginning.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

Well, we’d like to collaborate with many bands, one of them could be Despite Exile, since they’re also Italians and are doing a really good job.

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

Definitely playing at Wacken Open Air is our dream, as it surely is for everyone that plays our genre.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

No gift, we just need to see them under the stage.

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

The only message we can give to our fans is to follow all the bands in the underground scene (we need it), and to always have determination, because only with that can you do something concrete.

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Probably Dimebag Darrell.

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

We really love playing for our fans. Generally we don’t hate anything about our activity, otherwise we wouldn’t do it!

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

We would undoubtedly like a music scene that is free from scam agencies and from people that exploit the musicians’ ambitions.

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

Our favourite albums are “Vulgar Display of Power”, “Burn my Eyes” and “Chaos A.D.” (there’s no need to tell you the bands of course).

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

We like CD’s since, in our opinion, downloading a file is not the same feeling as owning a CD.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

Our best gig was in Slaughter Club in Milan, Italy. There were a lot of people that weren’t familiar with our music and our performance was satisfactory. We think the audience liked us a lot.

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

Actually, we’re not professional musicians: each one of us has a job, which allows us to support our musical career. Being a musician does not exclude other activities.

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

Certainly our friend Alle Rabitti from injury with whom we collaborated for a track, Luca Cocconi from modern age slavery (to whom we owe a lot), Luca Simonazzi from Sexperience and our replacement drummer, Marco Genitoni from We Fucking Rock because he always does many events and gives everyone the chance to play, and the artist who made the album cover Stefano Cavazzini.

What’s next for the band?

We’ve been planning different live concerts and we have some interesting news, but that’s a secret! Follow us on social media to know more.

What Social Media / Website links do you use to get your music out to people?

We’re on Instagram https://instagram.com/crowdeadmetal

and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Crowdeadmetal

Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll or a Tea Cake?

Honestly, we have no idea! Maybe we can have some tea together and find out!

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

We’d like to thank you for this interview. Bye, stay tuned!
