EMQ’s With Agressivium

Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with Brazilian Groove Metallers, Agressivium. Huge thanks to their Guitarist, Marcello, for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

Marcello guitarist. In 2012 we did a cover of Killswitch Engage for a covers songs live competition in Fortaleza and since then Agressivium emerged in 2015 following the same musical line.

How did you come up with your band name?

It came from the need to make the word pronunciation simple and easier to understand, since the old name was Rise Of Fallen Souls.

What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?

We are from Fortaleza CE- Brazil. The local scene is quite complicated since we are in the ‘land of Forró’, we have a lot of great metal bands here, but the geographical issue and because it is a very different culture from the rest of the world, it is a little more difficult to show our work around here and to the rest of Brazil, as well.

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)

Our last release was the video for the song “The Fallen” from the album “Kraken”, which was released in early 2023, on Spotify and other streaming apps.

Who have been your greatest influences?

Killswitch Engage , As I Lay Dying , Slipknot , Lamb of God, Pantera, and many others.

What first got you into music?

At first I just wanted to play the guitar, I thought whoever played instruments was amazing, I started playing when I was 13 years old and when I was 15 I was called to my first Nirvana cover band.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

The Brazilian band called Project 46, no doubt, one of the best bands in our country.

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

Rock in Rio is a childhood dream. Or Wacken Open Air, Hellfest, maybe

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

I never received a gift from a fan.

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

Support our concerts, listen to our album, watch our videos, follow us on social media and purchase our merchandise. Sooner we will have good news about the band’s next steps.

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Kurt Cobain

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

The energy on stage is amazing, I can’t describe the feeling through words, and what I hate most is the devaluation of underground bands in the Brazilian scene.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

Better visibility and opportunity for underground bands

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

 “IOWA” – Slipknot

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs, or Downloads?

Downloads for practicality and low budget reasons

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

One of the Agressivium’s first show was in a very important event in the Ceará underground scene called Forcaos

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

A football player or a football Coach

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

My band mates

What’s next for the band?

We are in the writing process for the next album and also release some singles soon, to warm up.

Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll, or a Tea Cake?

A Tea Cake
