EMQ’s With Human

Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with Brazilian Heavy Metallers Human. Huge thanks to their guitarist and composer, Níass, for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

I’m Níass. It’s a pleasure to give you this interview. I’m the guitarist and composer of the Brazilian band, HUMAN. We’ve been on the road for 16 years, with 3 albums and many shows around Brazil.

How did you come up with your band name?

The name was inspired by the album “Human” by the band Death, by Chuck Schuldiner.

What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?

We are a Brazilian Heavy Metal band and the difficulties in the underground scene are very big. However, in most cities in our country there is always a good group breathing Heavy Metal.

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)

In 2022 we released the album “A New Perception” and official video clips for the songs ‘A Call of the Wild,’ ‘A New Perception’ and ‘Unknown Sea.’

Who have been your greatest influences?

Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Death, Control Denied, Nevermore, Queensryche Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Classic Blues.

What first got you into music?

Influence of good people and love at first sight for Rock n Roll, Blues and Heavy Metal.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

The Lunar Effect

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

‘Abril pro Rock’ Festival in Recife BR.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

Ah I cannot tell you that I’m afraid, as it would violate the sacred bond that is fan and band confidentiality.

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

We are HUMAN, a Heavy Metal Blues band. If you like blues, if you like Heavy Metal, you will like the sound of our band!

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Chuck Schuldiner

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

I love composing, I love playing guitar.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

Almost everything! Capitalism is a shit. What matters to the industry is only money. They are not interested in the real talent and potential of a band. The bands, the real artists, are the least valued.

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

Control Denied – “A Fragile Art of Existence”

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

Downloads, NEVER!

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

I can’t say just one. Fortunately, in these 16 years of performing we’ve had some great experiences.

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

A boy playing guitar

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

hahhaha I Don’t know.

What’s next for the band?

A few tours and then the release of the new album.

What Social Media / Website links do you use to get your music out to people?

Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll, or a Tea Cake?

It’s a Roll in London.

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Not really, thank you for the time.  Oh and don’t forget to buy the record.
