Pentre Fest 2025 – McLean’s Pub, Pentre
21st-22nd February 2025

Tucked away in the corner of North East Wales, you’ll find the small village of Pentre. And tucked away in the corner of Pentre, you’ll find McLean’s Pub – one of North East Wales’ best kept secrets, and the venue, as always, for North East Wales’ best Rock and Metal festival, Pentre Fest.

It’s been a couple of years since I was last able to attend, but I’m rectifying that this year, and I really think you should be there too.

McLean’s is, ordinarily, a sleepy pub in this little village. But it boasts a fantastic function room, perfect for gigs, along with friendly staff, and, most importantly, very reasonably priced booze!

North East Wales Metal Production’s Pentre Fest is a well-established event there that’s been growing year on year. And this year’s line-up is solid, with a good mix of genres for everyone, so you’ll be sure to find something you enjoy.

Starting on the evening of Friday 21st, and running through the whole day on Saturday the 22nd, we’re in for a treat this year, both on the indoor stage, and the outdoor acoustic stage. So, let’s take a look at what we’ve got.

Friday 21st is an evening of two poles! Bringing the Rock to things is Mother Thunder, but turning things decidedly more heavy and firmly planting the mood of the night into ‘BANG YOUR FUCKING HEADS’ are North Wales’ Dystopian Sun, Manchester’s Judgement, and 40,000 Leagues, who all dabble in the more ‘Core’ side of Metal. I’m so excited for 40,000 leagues! Alongside these 4 mighty bands, we’ll also be treated to some acoustic on the outdoor stage from Pentre stalwart Edd Case, and Bad Earth’s frontman, Steve Coxon, under the guise of ‘Miserable Sinner’. Having heard both these chaps play multiple times, I can tell you that they’re going to deliver killer acoustic sets that will warm you up if you’re feeling a little chilly.

Saturday 22nd kicks off around lunchtime, to allow for some recuperation from the Friday night hangovers, and again it’s promising to be an epic day, featuring many genres of music, so there’s something for everyone! Local Rockers, Cry for Mercy, and one of my firm favourites, Hard Rock/ Thrash/ Blues/ Southern Metallers Bad Earth, are sure to bring us some solid, high-tempo heaviness. We’ve got some underground Metal from Dxrk Winter, a new face to the the scene, and if Death Metal’s your bag, then South Wales’ Deliberate Miscarriage have got that covered. Scottish Thrashers Toranaga join the line-up to come and shred your face off for a bit. If Punk floats your boat, then local Punk legends, STUNTFACE, will delight you. To finish things off, headliners Collateral are going to beat us to death with their brand of Rock!

As if that wasn’t enough, in between acts on the main stage, we’ve got more going on over at the acoustic stage, with contributions from Edd Case, Mike West and the Missing Links, and Victim Of Damp (which is still up there as one of the best names for an act in the history of Rock and Metal)!

But here’s the best part my friends. All that music, plus an immense amount of fun, in one of the friendliest environments you’re ever likely to find yourself in, can be yours for the meager sum of £25! So, if you don’t have plans for the 3rd weekend in February, then get yourselves to Pentre to kick off the festival season in style, with this hidden gem of a grass-roots event. It’s going to be a blast!
