EMQs With Boneyard

EMQs With Boneyard

Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with Canadian Hard Rock/ Metal band, Boneyard. huge thanks to their Lead Vocalist/ Rhythm Guitarist, Pamtera, for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

Hello, I am Pamtera, I am the lead singer and I play rhythm guitar for Boneyard here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Boneyard is a female-fronted hard rock/ metal band from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We released our first album called “Oathbreaker” on October 24, 2020.  It eventually attracted the attention of Italy’s WormHoleDeath Records. The label, and their affiliates, re-released the album in 2022 to a broader market, including Japan. With it came singles and videos for the songs Fates Warning, Oathbreaker, Born Again and Evil Ways. Boneyard has been privileged to be invited to perform at numerous Western Canadian festivals including Decimate Metalfest, Schwabfest and the long-running Shockerfest. Locally, they have supported touring acts like 96 Bitter Beings, Deadwolff and Syryn just to name a few. The band looks to build on the momentum and success of the first album. They have just released the first single and video called “Before the Fall” from their sophomore release “Black Static”. The forthcoming album will also feature the band’s latest lineup addition of bassist Lezzy Osbourne, and guitarist Garhardt.
The band members bring diversity with a Métis drummer, and a female bass player from the LGBTQ+ community.
Band line-up:
Pamtera – lead vocals, guitar
Lezzy Osbourne – bass guitar
Jefftimus – drums
Garhardt- lead guitar

How did you come up with your band name?

In the beginning, while we were learning cover songs, one of our members listened to Sirius/XM satellite radio a lot and noticed the Boneyard channel played most of the songs we did. We decided to use Boneyard as our name, mainly for familiarity to the style of material we were covering. Once we started writing our own material, and headed in an all original direction, we kept the same name due to the following we had built up. I still enjoy listening to Ozzy’s Boneyard and crack a smile whenever they say our name.

What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Edmonton has a decent live music scene, with lots of original and tribute bands. The most notable original band is the power metal band Striker.

What is your latest release?

‘Before the Fall’ single and music video released on March 7, 2025

Who have been your greatest influences?

Classic metal bands, mostly from the 80’s, Annihilator, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden. Other favorites are Concrete Blonde, and Peter Gabriel.

What first got you into music?

When I was 15 my high school boyfriend played guitar. I wanted to learn so badly so he taught me some chords and eventually gave me his guitar. It was lost for about 15 years in a friend’s moving box but I still have it.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

Jeff Waters from Annihilator.

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

I would LOVE to play in Europe, at the Sweden Rock Festival or Wacken Open Air.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

A fan once gave me a large pizza when our set was done. It sure was a treat for the band in the middle of the night after loading gear!

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

Thank you for your continued support! Remember that listening to music increases blood flow to brain regions that generate and control emotions. It moves, it heals, it communicates and connects us all.

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Dimebag Darrell

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician?

I love playing live; it’s a creative outlet for stress and gives me an awesome feeling, especially when I am able to connect with the crowd.

And what do you hate?

That most music fans don’t seem to buy physical products (CDs/vinyl) as much.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

More exposure to live bands, making people leave their homes, go out and enjoy each other and music. More live concerts in schools, live venues, and concerts that have a reasonable ticket price so that all can enjoy.

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

Annihilator – “Set The World on Fire”.

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs or Downloads?

CD’s are my favorite.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

Our latest shows have all been amazing, we have been able to lock in with the crowd and have them engaged. Our energy is flowing well through each of us and we are able to share the feeling. I just can’t pick one!

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

I think I would still be involved with band bookings, or management. I really love merchandising, graphic arts, posters and design.

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

lzzy Hale, Jeff Waters, Zakk Wylde, Rob Halford, and Miljenko Matijevic.

What’s next for the band?

We have another single and video to be released in the next couple of months. We are continuing to write new songs and have some great gigs coming this summer.

What Social Media / Website links do you use to get your music out to people?

This LinkTree link has access to all of our social media, upcoming shows and our website in one place.

There’s a long-standing food-based debate here in the UK. And we’d like your help. So… A Jaffa cake – is it a cake or a biscuit? Discuss!

I have No clue what Jaffa Cakes are. Haha!

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Cheers and thank you for the support!
