EMQ’s With MYTH OF LOGIC
EMQ’s With MYTH OF LOGIC
Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with USA Progressive Rock solo project, Myth Of Logic, huge thanks to Scott G Davis for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Scott G. Davis at your service. I am a multi-instrumentalist centered around Keyboards (piano, organ, Moog), Guitars and particularly Bass Guitar. Myth Of Logic is the real world manifestation of the dream I have always had for myself of a sandbox where I could play and dream and create. Although it is a vision I’ve had for many years it was really only born in 2023 with the release of “Surrounded By Ghosts”.
How did you come up with your band name?
Well, another name had been chosen until it was a pointed out that it was a dumb choice. Myth Of Logic has a nice sound to it and it looks good in print. In addition I like the duality of the implication.
What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?
We are based in Florida in the Tampa Bay Area. There are a great many talented musicians here but sadly, not much of a “scene” to support their efforts. Hopefully we can change that.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
“The Memory Of After’ on Abulia Records.
Who have been your greatest influences?
Emerson Lake & Palmer, Kansas, Rush, Genesis, Yes, Saga
What first got you into music?
Well, I should think that it all started for me with my parents. Neither were musicians, but my Mom had a beautiful singing voice. In all honesty she was exceptional. Judy Garland level quality. She would sing around the house while cooking and cleaning. She and my Dad were both great appreciators of music and the house was filled with it. Mom loved Johnny Mathis, The Carpenters, The Beatles, Elton John, The Fifth Dimension and many others. I’m certain that these early influences lent a melodic flow through to my musical process. I took up guitar at 13, developed my skills over time and ended up here.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
Nick D’Virgilio would be at the top of that list. He is the whole package. World class drummer, great singer and songwriter. I suspect we might work well together.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
I’ve often thought that the NEARfest would have been fun. Prog Power usually features favorites of mine and isn’t too far from us here in Florida.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
A coffee cup with a resistor color code chart on it. It’s my preferred cup for tea at the moment.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
I make Myth Of Logic records because I want to hear them. It’s my fondest wish that YOU want to hear them as well.
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
I suppose that would have to be two. Keith Emerson and Greg Lake.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
The moment of Inspiration. When the thought of the music first forms in my mind (most often in a dream) and begins to reveal itself from fingers to ears.
I try very hard not to hate anything. Especially not anything about music.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
I think things are fine the way they are. Musicians and songwriters have as much control as they are willing to work for. It’s a tough place to try to make headway at all. However it has always been such. But the rewards are the music and that is how it should be. As the saying goes, “Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life”.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
“Trilogy” – Emerson, Lake & Palmer. My favorite album from my favorite artist.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs or Downloads?
It depends really. Certain albums demand the vinyl experience. Night At The Opera, Rumors, Damn The Torpedoes, Boston, Wish You Were Here. These albums were crafted for vinyl and they still sound best in that format. Personally I prefer CDs. Myth Of Logic records are made with that format in mind.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
All the shows I played with Alchemy in the early 90s. It’s a long story. Maybe one day I shall tell it.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Interesting question. I’d be an author of either screenplays or novels.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
John Cleese, Geddy Lee, P!nk, Annie Haslam, Neal Morse
What’s next for the band?
More music most likely. I’m always writing and plotting…stay tuned.

There’s a long-standing food-based debate here in the UK. And we’d like your help. So… A Jaffa cake – is it a cake or a biscuit? Discuss!
Isn’t it obvious? It’s a cake.
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Please…be good to one another.
