EMQ’s With TREZ MUERTOZ
EMQ’s With TREZ MUERTOZ
Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with USA Death/ Thrash band, Trez Muertoz. Huge thanks to their Vocallist/ Guitarist, Gordeitor, for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Hi my name is Enrique aka Gordeitor. I’m the lead singer/guitarist for Trez Muertoz.
Trez Muertoz was founded around 2008/2009
I was playing in another band & met Luis aka Calavera while hanging out. After a while we became like brothers and talked about forming a band together since I’m a guitarist and he was a bassist. We started jamming out & after writing a few songs we began the search for a drummer.
We had tried out several drummers but the chemistry wasn’t there. Luis met Carlos aka El Enfermo through going to local shows. Carlos was playing drums but wasn’t active in a band at the current time. So we asked Carlos to jam with us. Aftera few practices his energy and vibes were what we were looking for. The instant connections between the 3 of us quickly became Trez Muertoz full line up.
In 2021 Carlos decided he needed to focus on his personal life due to hard times. So Carlos departed from the band on good terms and we still like brothers till today.
The search for a new drummer began. We as a band took a break and started focusing on family life and side projects etc…
In 2022 we got offered to play a short notice major show with Mexico’s legendary band called TransMetal. In which we had about a month or so to find a drummer & start to practice. The search began to find a drummer & get things going in time to play this epic event. Reached out to many different drummers yet no luck. Time is ticking now. We are down to a week and half before the show to find a drummer who can learn a minimum of 7 songs before then. Enrique randomly reached out to long time friend Jeovanny (Jeo) aka Grabadora (The Recorder nick name we gave him because he listens to anything and can play it back by memory) who used to play drums and switched to Guitars for the New York City band called DEMIZED. Jeo asked me to send him the material so he can try to learn them by ear before he can try out.
The show is a week away and we got together with Jeo and began jamming out the songs. He had learned 95% of the songs within our first practice in less than a week. It took us by surprise being that Jeo has not been behind a drum kit in 8 years.
Fast forward we practiced 4 to 5 more times that week before the show and we were good to go.
The chemistry between Luis, Jeo and myself was something new and refreshing. It was like it was meant to be.With Jeo becoming 3rd official member to complete The Triangle Of Death called Trez Muertoz!
Full Line up:
Enrique (Gordeitor) Lead Vox & Guitar
Luis (Calavera) Bass & Backup Vox
Jeovanny *Jeo* (Grabadora) Drums
We coheadlined that night with TransMetal. The show was one of those epic moments in life that you’ll never forget.
After that show both Luis & I talked and were wondering if Jeo would like to join the band. Little did we know that Jeo felt the same way we did. Jeo joined Trez Muertoz 2022 to Present
The energy the vibes this new line up has is powerful and has a new drive and focus to destroy anything in it path. The new material is more brutal, more devastating, aggressive & straight to the point.
