EMQ’s With Krapf
Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with USA Progressive Rock/ Metal project, Krapf. Huge thanks to Isaac Krapf for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Krapf is a solo venture started in 2020 by Isaac Krapf. Isaac serves as the main songwriter and the lead vocalist for the band. During live performances, he brings a skilled group of Baltimore based musicians to the stage.
The band’s first work “Seasick” was released in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID Pandemic. Throughout quarantine Krapf continued writing and in 2021 released their second record “The Hollow”. In November of 2022 Krapf released their third record titled “Gates”.
Their latest single “Mae” released November of 2025 and the band is set to release a self-titled record in 2026.
How did you come up with your band name?
Krapf is the last name of the founder of the band. “Isaac Krapf”
What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?
Baltimore, Maryland USA. The city has a strong metal scene.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
‘Mae’ our latest single released on November 14th, 2025
Who have been your greatest influences?
Life influences would be my parents. Music influences Devin Towsend, The Gaslight Anthem and the band Rainbow.
What first got you into music?
I was inspired to begin songwriting and learn how to play music out of high school. I was navigating a “what now” moment at the time as I was looking ahead in life and felt that this was something I wanted to pursue.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
We recently collaborated with Ryan Van Poederooyen on our latest record (to be released in 2026). This was a bucket list artist to work with for me.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
A. Wacken Open Air because it is such a staple for rock and metal music.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
Not weird, but we were made a custom cornhole board set.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
To continue connecting with us directly at shows and shoot us messages online. We want to build community and network
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
Meeting people and interacting. The business side is very frustrating at times.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
Limiting content allowed on social media. There is so much noise out there at the moment that it is difficult to gain exposure & traction. The platforms tend to suffocate a lot of really talented artists.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
“Accelerated Evolution” ~ The Devin Townsend Band
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
CD’s
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
In January of 2025 we performed at The Recher in Towson Maryland, USA. This was when we opened for Paul Reed Smith, founder of PRS Guitars and I highly enjoyed that show.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Something to help others or animals. Therapist/personal trainer or work in a vet clinic.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Family & friends because that’s what’s most important to me
What’s next for the band?
We are set to release a new single on February 6th titled ‘Evergreen’
What Social Media / Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll or a Tea Cake?
Gonna roll with a Roll
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
All the best!
