What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the band’s history?
We are Cairiss , we play Blackgaze. We formed the band when we were at University together about 13 years ago
How did you come up with your band name?
We basically just made up a word that we thought sounded interesting!
What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?
We’re from the South of England; the scene is pretty decent, there’s a lot of great new bands coming out every year!
What is your latest release?
We are releasing our new album “Wilderness” on 31st July!
Who have been your greatest influences?
Opeth, Strapping Young Lad, Alcest, Ethel Cain, Caligula’s Horse and Darkthrone to name a few for each of us!
What first got you into music?
The Legend of Zelda!
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician, who would it be?
Alcest
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Arctangent because it’s a great local festival with some amazing bands we’d fit right in with
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
Not a weird gift but an interesting one was Freya was sent a Russian Book she did the cover for
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Have you played Elden Ring? If not, why not?
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
We all love playing and writing music together. Definitely hate social media though.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
How music has been massively devalued in the 21st century.

Being a musician doesn’t make any money, so we all have day jobs anyway!

What’s next for the band?
We have a new album “Wilderness” coming out on 31st July and we will be playing some shows later in the year!

Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll or a Tea Cake?
