Imagine selling out a festival for the 4th time in a row, an innovative festival that draws people from not just all of the UK, from the outer reaches of Europe and from deepest darkest corners of the world.
Imagine.
You’d feel pretty smug wouldn’t you, and for good reason. The festival in question being Fortress Festival! With UK debuts from Blackbraid, Panopticon, the long awaited returns from Aggaloch and Old Man’s Child, as well as the heart stopping world live debut of Gallowbraid from across the years, the good folk of Reaper Agency may be forgiven for taking a break and well earned rest. But no, they don’t operate like that! See, they’ve pushed forward and curated another festival.
Tynebound.
Reaper Agency will lay siege to Newcastle – or Anarchy Brew Co specifically – as they aim to establish another stronghold in the North East of England, after all but conquering the seaside town of Scarborough! So, what’s so special about Tynebound and why should we be so excited?
International Talent
Montreal Quebec, Canada seems to be a breeding ground for black metal talent. Tynebound will showcase two examples in the shape of a rare UK performance from the blistering atmospheric force of Conifere, as elusive and mysterious as they are magnificent on stage! Fortress 2026 attendees will attest to the jaw dropping performance of Vesperal. Those who missed it get another chance to see this. Check out the highly acclaimed “La Mort de l’Âme” for evidence.
Best Of UK
Cnoc An Tursa returned with a forceful statement earlier this year with their album “A Cry Of The Slain” after hiding in the Scottish wilderness for almost a decade. They return to England this September. Similarly, The Infernal Sea returns after a period of absence with a special “The Great Mortality” 10 year anniversary set. The highly acclaimed Blood Countess, The Sun’s Journey Through The Night, and the live debut of Magnetar add firepower to the lineup.
Heavyweight Headliners
The elusive Midnight Sorcery made their world live debut in 2025, with their epic main stage performance at Fortress Festival of that year being amongst the most fondly spoken about in the festival’s short history. If you don’t see them here, it may be a very long time before they return to the Island. Czechia’s genre bending Inferno mix doom, death, progressive and even jazz infused melodies into a gripping intense atmospheric sound often imitated but never replicated. They headline the Sunday with an exclusive playthrough of their brand new album “The Anthropic Sophisms”.
So with rare appearances from acclaimed international talent, a stacked undercard with rising underground talent (did we mention it’s all on one stage so ZERO clashes) at a very affordable city, Tynebound represents not just a quality black metal lineup but a chance to witness history unfold right before our very eyes. Especially when one considers the unprecedented growth of Fortress Festival!
