EMQ’s With Bazooka Troopaz
EMQ’s With Bazooka Troopaz
Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with Norwegian Thrash Metallers, Bazooka Troopaz. Huge thanks to them for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
We are the Bazooka Troopaz from Trondheim, Norway. We play party Thrash music and we were formed in 2023. Most of this interview is done by guitarist Lt.Don Shrediablo. Our backstory is summarized perfectly in the intro from our first album, so check out the song ‘Booze Alley Brutal’ if you’re interested!
How did you come up with your band name?
Bazooka Troopaz was our unit-name in the Norwegian army before we were expelled.
What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?
We are from Trondheim, Norway which has a rockin’ Metal scene! Lots of good bands up here!
What is your latest release?
Our latest release is ‘Scandinavian Head Splitter’ which was released on December 13th, 2024.
Who have been your greatest influences?
We do like a lot of old school bands like Led Zeppelin, Rainbow and stuff, but the influences that we maybe sound the most alike is D.R.I., Anthrax and Municipal Waste.
What first got you into music?
Always been drawn to music, so it was pretty natural to end up playing in bands.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
Ah, maybe Pest Control or something like that.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
We’ll play anywhere aslong the pay is good and the beer is cold.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
Not exactly a gift, but Frankie often gets offers to sign dicks when playing. Strange request.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Drink more beer and listen to more Bazooka Troopaz!
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Randy Rhoads.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I enjoy the creative process the most, we’ve got a really good formula going with this band. What I hate most is probably the reliance of backing tracks being used live today. Some backing tracks like gangshouts are fine, but having the whole vocal-track or something playing over the speaker kinda destroys the live show.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
Probably the reliance of backing tracks as mentioned above.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Nevermore – Dead Heart in a Dead World.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Vinyl’s are pretty badass!
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
Since we have only played 1 gig yet, we’ll have to go with that one!
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Welfare Warrior all the way.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Iron Sheik, Harley Race, Haku, Don Frye and Tank Abbott.
What’s next for the band?
We will be hitting the studio shortly to start work on some new songs. Not sure if we will go with an EP or album, but we’ll see.
What Social Media / Website links do you use to get your music out to people?

Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll or a Tea Cake?
Oh man, I think A Bap sounds like the most awesome one, so I’ll go with that one.
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Thanks for the interview! Check out Bazooka Troopaz at our bandcamp or stream our music on Spotify, cheers!
