Interview with Beth Blade – NozFest 2019 – 10/08/2019
Interview with Beth Blade
NozFest 2019, 10/08/2019
By Lotty Whittingham
NozFest is well underway and it turns out people have literally travelled far and wide to experience the festival. Lotty speaks with Beth Blade after performing a successful live set with her band Beth Blade and the Beautiful Disasters. They speak about the latest album, their live show and the importance of rock music.
So since we last spoke, you have released your new album “Show Me Your Teeth”?
Yes, good. We have just been gigging and plugging away as per usual, it’s been awesome.
The album has gone down really well from what I can see?
It has, which is always nice, because you always worry. You do the first album and then worry that if you do the second one people won’t like it, but people are really responding to it. Personally, I like it better than the first one. Everyone is so supportive and wonderful, we are all very lucky.
You have just played NozFest downstairs; it was a fantastic live show.
Yes, for 5pm in the afternoon there are a lot of people here. I really can’t complain apart from how hot it was on that stage. I was dripping! I came off the stage looking like Alice Cooper, which is not a bad thing.
People have literally come from far and wide to watch you play?
Yes people have come from Scotland, Wales, Manchester and we are incredibly blessed to have such great friends. We have this little group of tight knit fans who are incredibly important to us.
Jodie has put together this incredible line-up which has sold out. For a festival in its first year it is absolutely amazing and deserves recognition for bringing rock ‘n’ roll to the South.
The thing about this community, this new wave of classic rock is that everyone is very supportive of each other. There is no rivalry, everyone is friends and all the people who come and see us are friends. They will go and see Those Damn Crows but the next day they will come and see us and then spend their whole week spending their money and hard earned cash on getting out there and supporting us. The fact is that this community is vital to our existence.
Some people have come from Germany today…Incredible! That’s the beauty of rock ‘n’ roll music! Rock n Roll will never die!
What does the rest of the year hold for you?
We have another show for Über Röck in Wales on 23rd August, with Last Great Dreamers. We had a show in London that was cancelled, the festival was cancelled, but we are still playing on 29th September in London although cannot say line-up and then in October we play ‘The Massive Weekend’ at the Waterloo in Blackpool with Those Damn Crows, Massive Wagons, Falling Red etc. We are very much looking forward to that.
Then we have the big one! We are opening the main stage at Hard Rock Hell in November, our big end to the year.
Thank you so much Beth for talking with us today!
