EMQ’s with THEO NT
EMQ’s with THEO NT
Hello Everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with Greek Multi-instrumentalist, Theo NT. Huge thanks to him for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Theo Nt has various musicians but mainly it’s myself and hopefully my guitar, haha while in acoustic sessions I have my friend George playing the guitar. I guess I just got fed up forming bands and people changing all the time, and decided to focused on a solo endeavour.
How did you come up with your band name?
It’s just my name abbreviated.
What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
I come from Greece where the Metal scene is quite organised and loyal to the music and bands. If you want to play Metal you should have a proper level of capabilities.
On the other hand, the Rock scene is quite vague and broad with many cases reporting an almost dysfunctional outcome. I guess it’s all concluded in the following hype: Rich hipsters pay to play!
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
My latest release, the single ‘Wobbly Wheel’,
Who have been your greatest influences?
Chris Cornell, Jeff Buckley, The Doors, Frank Sinatra, Nirvana, CCR and Freddie Mercury. Basically all the Artists that can actually sing and write dope songs.
What first got you into music?
I guess it was the curiosity of getting involved with the live scene and the communication with people that come to see us.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
Hard to answer…cause all of them are dead!
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
LOLLPALOOZA cuz I love the name, haha!
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
A dick pic!
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Stay true and loyal to the independent music scene ‘cause we need you more than ever…!
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Chris Cornell.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I love the composing/producing part and I hate the DIY self-promoting part.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
The high profile positions must be replaced by mindful human beings.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Nirvana – “Nevermind”.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Vinyl!
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
Back in 2005 I played with one of my first bands at almost 1,000 people which was a big thing if you are 18 years old.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
I would be a doctor or a pilot.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Vlassis Mponatsos, Jim Morrison, Freddie Mercury, Chris Cornell and Brad Pitt.
What’s next for the band?
I am working on my second album. It will hopefully be ready later this year.
