Celebrating a decade of Death, Slovakia’s Bloody Redemption continue to pay homage to Old-School Death Metal with new album “Hit to The Gore.”

Opener ‘Unknown Evil’ attempts to obliterate the listener from the outset, but I couldn’t tear myself away from the subtle secondary guitar tones that run parallel as they really add another dynamic. Leading in with a multitude of solos is ‘Vultures Waiting’, which is pure savagery on a plate, I really love the bass on this track and it rings through nice and clear.

Bringing in a nice nostalgic 80’s vibe in parts is ‘Ancient Knowledge’, but don’t worry it doesn’t go full gallop, the full charge and swirling guitars are not too far away making this my highlight track. Then title track ‘Hit to The Gore’ takes the mantle and brings it smashing down – again the solos are something I am really enjoying in amongst a crushing heaviness. Straight out of a Morbid Angel album ‘The Dark Sides of a Human Soul’ has me in pure nostalgic raptures – the repeat button was used a lot for this one.

Dominated by bass ‘Beyond the Truth’ is a welcome addition and a great follow up track leading into ‘Shotgun Lullaby’ and finally ‘Rapture of the Dam’ which is a smart choice for a closing track as even though it maintains the pace and aggression of previous tracks the foreboding guitars and crashing waves right at the end were a great touch.
