EMQs with Blax

Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with Italian Melodic-Gothic band, Blax. Huge thanks to their Singer/Songwriter, Blax, for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

I’m Blax, singer and songwriter of this melodic-gothic band. The concept came from some songs written in the past and developed together with the guitarist, Hektor, in the first album called “Meravilia” that was released in October 2022.

How did you come up with your band name?

The name was spontaneously born while trying to grasp in its meaning between dark and black, intending a “black” soul.

What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?

We are from Italy where the rock and metal scene is clearin’ up after some dark years.

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)

Our first album called “Meravilia”, released in October 2022.

Who have been your greatest influences?

My influences start from bands like Guns ‘n Roses, Skid Row, Queensryche, Death and Nevermore

What first got you into music?

It was the vinyl of Helloween “Live in the U.K.”and “Fear of the Dark” by Iron Maiden, when I was 11.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

I’d like to collaborate with Ghost and Alice Cooper.

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

I’d like Wacken, in Germany, because I think there is the essence of the European metal scene.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

The hand-waxed doll representing Blax.

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

It would be that we make our music for them and us all.

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Ronnie James Dio.

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

I love to express myself and what I feel.
I hate every single Human that destroys this world of Metal/Hard music.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

I’d like to organize more events even in smaller city to get involved more people to this music.

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

“Operation Mindcrime” – Queensryche

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs, or Downloads?

Vinyl is the best for production, vintage cult and collection.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

It was about 15 years ago, in Rome, in the underground Italian scene, but unfortunately I don’t remember the name… maybe because I was too much… 🙂

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

I’ll be exactly what I’m doing now, an emergency doctor.

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

Ronnie James Dio (rest in peace), Geoff Tate, John Lennon (RIP), Chuck Schuldiner and Warrel Dane (RIP).

What’s next for the band?

We want to let people know about our music as much as possible and to play for all the people who can appreciate our compositions.

BLAX – OUR BRAIN CONDITIONS

Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll or a Tea Cake?

😁

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Follow us, listen to our music and come to see our live performance!
We thank you all so much.
See you on stage!
