Chaos Doctrine – Black Sabbath Tribute Videos – Ever Metal Exclusive Premiere

Chaos Doctrine Unveils Monumental Black Sabbath Tributes Ahead of New Album – Ever Metal Exclusive Premiere

Johannesburg-based veteran industrial thrashers, Chaos Doctrine, have been gearing up for the release of their new single ‘Heretic’ (19 April) and album ‘Bellum’ (26 April) with the re-release of their singles from this album ‘Lifting the Veil’, ‘Martyr’, and ‘One of My Bad Days’ (now accompanied by an official music video). Following their recent tribute to Pink Floyd, the band now presents a massive Black Sabbath Tribute titled Sabbath Doctrine.

The Sabbath Doctrine project has been in the works for some time, originating during the creation of their sophomore album ‘And in the Beginning … They Lied’ and continuing through the sessions for their upcoming album ‘Bellum’. This tribute comprises three distinct versions of a 9-and-a-half-track Black Sabbath Medley.

Alec Surridge (guitarist and production engineer) explains, “It has taken us quite some time to create this, as when you pay homage to the first and greatest metal band ever, you make sure you do it properly!”

Phil Carstens (bassist and band visual artist) adds, “It is no secret that we love doing covers, but it’s always difficult to choose one due to the diverse interests of the individual band members. We finally settled on Black Sabbath … but, how do you choose just one Black Sabbath song to cover?” Drummer Jason Eedes chimes in, “We found it impossible. So, long story short, we chose parts of 9 of our favourites and created a brutal medley!”

The Sabbath Doctrine comprises the tracks Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sweet Leaf, Iron Man, Symptom of the Universe, Paranoid, War Pigs, Heaven and Hell, N.I.B., Black Sabbath, and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (9-and-a-half comes from to the fact tracks #1 and #10 are the same song).

Vocalist Dr D shares “Black Sabbath x 9.5 x 3 = 666? We couldn’t decide if we wanted to stay close to the originals or give it the full Chaos Doctrine treatment. So, in the end, we did both! Then we thought, what if we get some of our friends from the SA Alternative Community to lay down vocals with me?”

From this, the band aptly named the three versions:

  1. The Sabbath Doctrine Chapter 1 (Old School Mix)
  2. The Sabbath Doctrine Chapter 2 (Chaos Mix)
  3. The SA-bbath Doctrine Chapter 3 (SA Tribute Mix)

Chapters 1 and 2 of the Sabbath Doctrine will be available from 12 April on the Chaos Doctrine website, as well as their YouTube page and Bandcamp page. Version 3 is still in progress, so stay tuned for more news on this soon!

About Chaos Doctrine

Chaos Doctrine brings a unique and modern metal assault by blending old school thrash and death with aggressive industrial metal. Originally formed in 2011 in Johannesburg, South Africa by vocalist Dr D (Bedlam, Malachi, DedX), the band line up is completed by veteran guitarist and band producer Alec Surridge (Sacraphyx, The Warinsane), bass guitarist, backing vocalist and band visual artist Phil Carstens (DedX), and explosive drummer Jason Eedes (Jasper Dan, Azraella’s Sorrow, Beyond the Pale & The Sinners).

For its members, Chaos Doctrine is more than a band: it is a comprehensive sensory experience and a brand. Everything the band produces conveys this – the band name itself, their aggressive sonic releases, explosive live shows, dystopic visual products, and stabbing lyrical content. Chaos Doctrine explores the shadow of the human condition, hatred, brutality, decay. Their approach is unrelenting, fuelled by rage and void of apology. This is aggression, this is Chaos Doctrine!

LINE-UP:
Daniel Burger ‘Dr D’ (Vocals)
Alec Surridge (Guitar)
Phil Carstens (Bass & Backing Vocals)
Jason Eedes (Drums)
