EMQs With Nymphic

Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with UK Nu-Metal band, Nymph. Huge thanks to their Guitarist, Adam, for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

Hey, I’m Adam, the guitarist of Nymphic! The band was started by our vocalist, Stix back in lockdown and has evolved into what you see today, from there.

How did you come up with your band name?

Stix came up with the name. She has a whole story and lore behind it that I don’t want to get wrong. From what I know (I wasn’t in the band at the time) she was struggling to find a name and came up with Nymphic and it just clicked.

What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?

Although the majority of us aren’t London natives, we all live and are based in London. The scene is incredible round here! Just as a fan, there are so many cool bands that are always putting on local shows that we can go see!

What is your latest release?

Our latest release is act 2, “Enemy”.

Who have been your greatest influences?

Myself, personally, it would have to be Avenged Sevenfold and Korn, but I think as a band, our biggest collective influences would have to be Rage Against The Machine and Linkin Park.

What first got you into music?

My Dad is a massive Queen fan (He has top tier music taste) and my earliest memories as a kid was singing along to Queen with him and thinking to myself, “that’s what I want to do”

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

Either Jonathan Davis or Kid Bookie. That would be so much fun!

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

The obvious answer is Download but if it came back properly, I would love to do Warped Tour!

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

I won’t name anyone, but a girl used to make videos on YouTube of pictures of me and added pictures of herself and she told people we were together. Slightly weird as I had never met her and a few of the videos are still on YouTube!

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

Honestly just thank you for listening! It means everything to us!

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Freddie Mercury!

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

I love playing shows the most! It’s a bit of a hot take and I wouldn’t say I hate it, but sometimes the recording process can be very long and stressful, and in the moment you lose sight of the end goal and just get really annoyed if you can’t get something exactly how you want it.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

More support for underground bands!

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

The self-titled Avenged Sevenfold album! Pure art!

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

I collect Vinyl, so I’m going to say that!

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

Personally, mine was Slam Dunk Festival. I’m not sure about the other guys!

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

I’d either be an artist or work with cars.

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

If we’re going famous, dead or alive;

Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Stephen Fry, Ozzy and Tony from Nymphic (I’m a fangirl)

What’s next for the band?

Loads and loads of shows!!!!

What Social Media / Website links do you use to get your music out to people?

Check us out on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/Nymphic.band/ and check us out on spotify! It’s literally just Nymphic!

Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll, or a Tea Cake?

I’d go with bap or a roll. If you say any of the others you’re either wrong or Northern!

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Thank you so much for having me! The only other thing I’d like to add is that if you do come to a Nymphic show, feel free to stroke Tony’s beard! He doesn’t have much else going for him and it will make him happy!
