EMQ’s With LINISTIT

Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with Italian Black/ Death Metal band, Linistit. Huge thanks to their Vocalist, Triria, for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

I’m Maria Spada, aka Triria, the vocalist of the band Linistit. Here’s a brief bio of our band: The band Linistit was born in 2012 from an idea of Claudio Pluchino (Angelus – rhythm guitar) and Maria Spada (Triria – voice).

The two together composed the first four tracks based on Black and Death metal. This is for them the first experience of Extreme music composition, made with commitment but without expectations.

Between 2013 and 2014 Angelus and Triria decide to search for the remaining members to try to form a band. The rehearsals begin with some musicians, but you can not find a proper musical and compositional harmony. The Linistit project has been shelved for a while.

In 2016 it resumed with the entry of guitarist Vincenzo Abbate (Katros – solo guitar), with which a strong unity of group spirit is born. In 2017 the three complete the line-up with the addition of Michele Barrano (Black Beast – drums ex Throne Of Molok) and Paolo Baglieri (Damevil – bass). In May 2022 the bassist leaves the band for personal reasons, and the new bassist Claudio D’angelo (Valak) takes his place.

The full training begins a serious work on the project, maintaining a good rhythm of rehearsals and musical composition. The work of the five members gives rise to six songs plus an intro.

In 2018, Linistit released their first music video for the song Linistit.

Meanwhile, the six tracks and the intro for their first album, ‘Evil Arises’ are completed. In February 2021 comes another music video, “Anneliese”, these two songs are part of the album Evil Arises that will be released on March 5, 2021 for Volcano Records. In August

2022 the band starts to produce new tracks, for a particular track, “Rose Of Eden Garden”, a

music video has been produced.

How did you come up with your band name?

The name came from Angelus and Triria, they wanted to choose a name about vampires, so they first thought about “Senza Respiro” that in English is “Without Breath”, but instead of using an English translation they thought about using Romanian because Transilvania in particular is the place where the vampire myth came from. So the translation they found online was “Linistit” but after few years they discovered that the real meaning is “Quiet” or “Silent” but they decided to keep the name anyway because they like it and also because we are a Black/Death metal band so it’s funny our genre is noisy but our band name is literally quiet.

What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?

We are from Modica, a little town in Sicily, in the south of Italy. The Metal scene is really varied but the main events are held in Catania or Palermo.

What is your latest release?

Our latest release is “Rose Of Eden Garden”, released through Volcano Records & Promotion. It is available on all digital platforms. We also made a video that you can find on the Volcano Records YouTube channel.

Who have been your greatest influences?

Our influences are various because every band member listens to different Metal genres.

What first got you into music?

The first thing that brought me into music was a hard family issue.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

Metallica, Thylight, Cradle of Filth, Watain, Jinjer, Pantera, Agathodaimon, Taake, Horna

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

Hellfest and Wacken Open Air. Because we think it is the dream of every metal band.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

We havn’t receive any weird gift yet!

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

Exploit music as much as you can because it is a very powerful weapon.

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Ronnie James Dio.

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

What I like is that I can express myself as I want. Due to the fact that I’m the vocalist, I hate when I get sick.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

Today, the music industry usually searches for artists that already have many followers on social media. We understand this but we also do not agree with the way some of them are doing this. Today they care more about how many followers you have than the quality of your music. But of course, there are some exceptions.

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

“Dusk and her Embrace” from Cradle Of Filth.

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

Vinyl.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

When we played in a beautiful pub in our province.

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

Dressmaker or photomodel.

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

My band and my cat haha!

What’s next for the band?

We have planned some live gigs and we are writing a new track for our next album.

Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll, or a Tea Cake?

I would like to answer a Muffin

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Thank you so much to you and to our fans for their support. See you soon.
