EMQs with Kazullo
Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs, this time with Brazilian band Kazullo. Huge thanks to guitarist/vocalist Euzébio Gomes for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Nice to meet you, my name is Euzébio Gomes de Oliveira, I’m a guitarist/vocalist and the founding member of the band.
This project was born from an old desire to form an authorial Metal/Rock band and finally got off the ground in 2023 when I got in touch with Tadeu Mourão who took over the drumsticks and collaborated in the process of composing the first songs.
The embryo of what would become Kazullo was already formed, only a bassist was missing to complete the team. That’s how Giullian Henkell, owner of the studio where the first rehearsals took place, joined the project. Thus Kazullo was born.
How did you come up with your band name?
Finding the name for the band was the hardest part, we put together several lists, used puns and when it seemed impossible I came up with the idea of the process of metamorphosis that butterflies undergo and the cocoon is the crucial moment for them to grow wings and reach their main purpose.
It takes courage and detachment for change. It turns out that certain attitudes bother and scare and we create our reverse cocoons where we don’t want to give up our comfort zone, our warm blanket and choose to sabotage our dreams or paraphrasing the aforementioned process, our wings. That’s how I suggested Kazullo Reverso (Reverse Cocoon) at first, but we agreed that only Kazullo would sound better and more direct as a band name.
What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?
We are from Brazil, from the satellite city of Taguatinga – DF.
Taguatinga has always been a city of artistic reference, with the active presence of many bands. The scene remains in the fight and authorial bands are more in evidence even in times that are not very inviting to other musical genres
What is your latest release?
Kazullo already has three singles on Spotify, including the songs ‘Servidor Alterado’, ‘Ordem e Paz’ and ‘Espadilha’. We also have two videos on Youtube with emphasis on ‘Servidor Alterado’ which already has more than 5 thousand views. Our last release was in 2025 with the song Espadilha, a song that won the Balburdia award in the category Rock/Hard Rock release, and we are about to release another single and a video for wide dissemination on all platforms. There is also a recently recorded live performance that we are gradually making available on our official youtube channel.
Who have been your greatest influences?
There is a little bit of everything, from Thrash to modern metal without giving up classic rock.
What first got you into music?
There is a little bit of everything, from Thrash to modern metal without giving up classic rock.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
My parents have always liked music. My father in particular listened to the radio a lot. He listened to everything, from Agnaldo Timóteo to the Beatles. His radio moved by battery was always on and I grew up in this environment. He also had a record collection and was a fan of Roberto Carlos. It was very natural for me to collect records from an early age. When I saw myself, I was already in guitar lessons and that’s how this artistic vein was born. Another fact to consider is that I was not very popular as a teenager and music became my refuge, it was a reliable place where I felt good, away from the judgmental eyes of the time.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
I would love to play and compose with the Cavalera brothers
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
It would definitely be Wacken!! Legendary. Who knows…
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
Once I got a painting from my son-in-law with our logo and a QR code to access Spotify on our page. It wasn’t strange, but it was unusual and I was very happy with the idea. I really hope to get a strange gift from a fan one day and have a story to tell!
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Never give up on your dreams!
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Joey Ramone, the rock world was sadder without him here
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
What I like most is to play live and see his composition being in the public domain. What I hate most is not giving everything I can and leaving the stage with the feeling that something was missing.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
What bothers me the most today is the way digital platforms treat the artist. There is a monopoly on profits and this makes the production process for independent music even more difficult to survive. You can’t compete with the music financed and imposed by Agro. There should be a greater distribution not only of the profits, but also of the space destined for other styles. Public policies and the mandatory teaching of music in the school curriculum could mitigate all these conflicts.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Sepultura – Chaos A.D. To this day I still listen with the same pleasure since its premiere.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CDs or Downloads?
Although I no longer have access to vinyl, I consider it the best sound experience ever invented
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
Hmmm, good question. I think the best show I did was this year at our friend Beto’s pub, there at Black Sheep Pub. Although I made some mistakes, the show ended insane with the crowd singing along
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
I would easily work at a radio station with projects focused on the independent scene
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
My parents. They are no longer here on this plane and were my best friends. The two of them would be enough
What’s next for the band?
We are looking for funds to record our album and at the end of the year we will promote our second Kazullo Fest, you are already invited!

There’s a long-standing food-based debate here in the UK. And we’d like your help. So… A Jaffa cake – is it a cake or a biscuit? Discuss!
My sixth sense says that it is a cake!!
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Just thank you for the opportunity. Count on Kazullo!
