German fast paced shredders Knife return with new release “Heaven Into Dust”.

Church organs and eerie Silence of the Lambs samples blend into a circle of fury with opening track ‘Hawks Of Hades’. Ritualistic chants fire into sublime dominant basslines and screams on ‘Night Vision’.

Title track ‘Heaven Into Dust’ continues the fiery blasphemous aesthetic with it’s short but unrelenting pace and blood-curdling screams, as too does ‘Iron Spectre’. These two may be the shortest of the album with both under three minutes, but their powers combined could most likely carve their own pathway to the underworld.

‘With Torches They March’ slows down the pace somewhat but is no less intense. By the time the NWOBHM mixed with 80’s thrash (clearly my highlight track) ‘Black Oath and Spells’ comes around, I am genuinely contemplating growing my hair again for the first time in two decades. The solos do little to dissuade me either.

Both ‘The Arson Alchemist’ and ‘A Phantom Devised’ forge another unholy duo and no ‘Realm of Violence’ doesn’t let up either, containing some great galloping elements.

The album concludes with one final showcasing of shredding and raspy deliveries in ‘No Gods in the Dark’ to reaffirm that with the album “Heaven Into Dust”, Knife are out for blood and taking no prisoners.

This album makes you want to frantically pull out your leather jacket and bullet belt.
