Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with USA Guitarist, Rene Benton. Huge thanks to him for taking part.
Can you tell us a little bit about your musical history?
Started playing guitar and singing pretty early, performed around town , then left the state. Ended up touring with various artists throughout the years while nurturing my own musical journey. To date I have toured to 42 states and over 70 countries
What Country / Region are you from and what is the Rock scene like there?
I am from the USA originally from Nebraska, but I left many years ago and settled in the Southwestern part of the country Nevada/Arizona. A lot of bands and Rock and Roll pioneers live in that area so the scene is vibrant!!
Who have been your greatest influences?
Guitar wise George Benson, Roy Clark, Anthony Lockett, Charlie Singleton, Jesse Johnson and Tony MacAlpine
What first got you into music?
It was often played around my house growing up . That and watching people perform on TV always looked cool to me.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
Taylor Swift, I heard she is great!!
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Download or Wacken.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
I can not think of any WEIRD gifts per se but, I have gotten some pretty cool gifts. I had a fan from China named Fan give a portrait of myself.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Listen with an open mind and open ears.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
Whoa!! One thing!! I wish musicians realized how powerful we really are.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
I played near the DMZ line dividing North and South Korea

Dreaming of being a musician!!
