Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with UK Metalcore band, Ventures. Huge thanks to them for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
We’re Ventures from crappy rainy England, We play metal/metalcore music for our love of the genre.
How did you come up with your band name?
We went through so many silly names, at the time we didn’t think we would be doing shows or anything so the name to us was just a little mess around, at one point we were named after a roller shutter company. After a few months, we landed on venturing out as a band called Ventures.
What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?
We’re in England, UK and the metal/rock scene here is always growing and getting bigger, it probably won’t stop thanks to some of the amazing rock and metal bars we have around here. Some places are not worth a band’s time sadly, but they are still fun to play nevertheless.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
Our latest single is called “Melt With Me” and is available on all streaming platforms.

Who have been your greatest influences?
It has to be each other, we 100 wouldn’t be a band still if it wasn’t for each member. Everyone brings something that’s needed in a group of reprobates to keep the work moving rather than derailing.
What first got you into music?
Seeing people live in big stadiums with 1000s of people singing and screaming back. That is the real dream having people know your song so well that they can sing it maybe even better than you.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
Tim Henson always will be Tim.
Anyone who gets the chance to work with Tim has 100% come out of that session learning something they didn’t even know was possible.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Download and Leeds, just for bragging rights that we got the chance, they have to be the most-known festivals by now.
I would also say Rockridge but not too sure after 2023 haha.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
Sadly we’re still waiting for gifts from fans, but then again being our fan is a gift to us haha.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Don’t let anything get you down to the point where you can’t get back up, always keep the fight.
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
MJ, picture that

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
There is something about music that just connects with me, I don’t know how to explain it without sounding like I’m the only person to ever have done music haha.
I just feel like if I couldn’t write then I couldn’t be me so to speak, it’s hard to explain haha.
Hate wise it’s people wanting to do something but never doing it.
If you wanna be in a successful band sometimes you have to miss something you want to do. I get very touchy about that.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
Genres.
Can’t stand them, why just because you like Grime can you not like metal too??
I grew up on RnB/Soul/Hip Hop then one day picked up a guitar and because a metalhead, yes I still listen to Usher, no I don’t care haha.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Avenged Sevenfold’s self-titled album, I must have had 5 copies of this album just because
1 used, 4 sealed haha

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
We opened for I Set My Friends On Fire back in 2018 and that’s got to be the best so far. 3 of the 5 of us at the time had grown up listening to bands like ISMFOF and never thought we’d be meeting them let alone opening for them on the Manchester leg of their UK tour
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
We’d all gone into something like IT or maybe streaming over on Twitch etc.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Luther Vandross / Kurt Cobain / Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan / Ozzy Osbourne
What’s next for the band?
We recently signed with Vizkill to help take on our booking so expect more shows and tours for 2025
We’re also dropping another brand new single this August called “Portrait”
