EMQ’s With SENSES

Hi everyone! Welcome to another EMQs interview, this time with Greek Glam Metallers, Senses. Huge thanks to them for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the

band?

We are Senses, a glam metal and AOR band from Athens, Greece. The band consists of Dim Argio on guitars, Andy White on vocals, John Agkor on bass, and John Fill on lead guitars. The band was formed in September 2022 with a shared vision to revive the essence of ’80s rock and metal while incorporating modern elements.

How did you come up with your band name?

The name “Senses” was inspired by our desire to create music that touches all the senses. We wanted a name that reflects the emotional intensity and the complete experience we strive to deliver through our music.

What Country / Region are you from and what is the Metal / Rock scene like there?

We are from Athens, Greece. The rock and metal scene here is vibrant, with a deep history and a passionate fanbase. Although the scene is smaller compared to other regions, the dedication and energy of the fans make it truly special.

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)

Our latest release is our debut album “Out Of Line,” which includes the singles ‘Under Your Spell’ and ‘Silent Disco.’ The music video for ‘Silent Disco’ was recently released, and we are thrilled with the response so far.

Who have been your greatest influences?

Our biggest influences include bands like Metallica, Scorpions, Mötley Crüe, and Judas Priest. We also draw inspiration from the broader rock and metal spectrum, including modern bands like Asking Alexandria.

What first got you into music?

Our love for music began at a young age, with each member having a different starting point. For some, it was the raw power and energy of metal, while for others, it was the emotional depth and storytelling found in classic rock. This passion ultimately led us to create our own music.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

We would love to collaborate with Rudolf Schenker from Scorpions or David Coverdale from Whitesnake. Their influence on our music is undeniable, and working with them would be a lifelong dream come true.

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

Wacken Open Air in Germany would be our top choice. It’s one of the most iconic metal festivals in the world, with an atmosphere and energy that are unparalleled. Playing there would be a major milestone for us.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

The most unusual gift we’ve received was from a fan and friend of ours. He came to our rehearsal and walked into the studio with a copy of Seventh Son of a Seventh Son by Iron Maiden, signed by all the members of the band. It was a shocking and incredible gift—thank you, Nick!

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

We want to thank our fans for the incredible support. You are the heart and soul of Senses, and we couldn’t do this without you. Keep the passion alive and stay heavy!

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

It would be Ronnie James Dio. His charisma, voice, and stage presence were unmatched, and the world could use a little more of his magic.

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

The best part of being a musician is the ability to create and share our music with the world. There’s nothing quite like the connection you feel with fans during a live performance. The downside, however, is the challenges that come with the music industry, especially as an emerging band. Managing the business aspects can sometimes distract from the creative process.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

We wish there was more support for emerging bands. The industry can be tough for new artists, and more opportunities for exposure and growth would make a huge difference.

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

One of our all-time favorite albums is the self-titled “Black Sabbath” by Black Sabbath. In an ideal world, it would have been released as a double album alongside “Paranoid,” as they were only a few months apart in release. Together, they would represent absolute perfection. This album marked the birth of metal, and it’s a masterpiece that has profoundly influenced us.

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

Vinyl offers an unmatched listening experience with its warm sound and tangible format—it’s perfect in every way. However, downloads and streaming are incredibly convenient and accessible in our digital age.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

Since we are still preparing for our first live performances to promote “Out of Line,” we hope that our upcoming shows will soon become the best we’ve ever played!

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

If we weren’t musicians, we would likely be involved in other creative fields such as graphic design, visual arts, or technology. Creativity is at the heart of everything we do.

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

We would invite Steve Harris, Alice Cooper, James Hetfield, Tony Iommi, and Rob Halford. That would be a dinner we’d remember forever!

What’s next for the band?

We are currently promoting our debut album “Out Of Line” and working on new material for our next release. We also plan to announce live shows and festival appearances soon, so stay tuned!

Time for a very British question now. As an alternative to the humble sandwich, is the correct

name for a round piece of bread common in the UK either a Bap, a Barm (or Barm Cake), a Batch, a Bun, a Cob, a Muffin, a Roll or a Tea Cake?

We would prefer the term “Bun” because it’s the one we’re most familiar with. But honestly, any of these terms could work, depending on the region you’re from!

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Thank you for having us! We’re excited to share our music with the world and truly appreciate all the support we’ve received so far. Stay heavy, and we’ll see you on the road!
